After having a series of issues playing WoW recently, and some bad crashes today, I rang up my technical support people to get an engineer out. During this phonecall they made me run varying diagnostic tools, and to sum it up, I have someone coming out to me on Friday to put in a new Hard drive, Motherboard and graphics card.

Obviously having a new hard drive will mean that I will need to reinstall everything. I have a question about re-installing WoW.

First, can I use the same discs I used first time round, with same product key? I have a weird feeling I read somewhere once that you couldn't. If for some reason I cant use my original stuff then I'd like to know in advance so I can be organised and reduce the amount of time I'll be away from the game.

Sorry if I have put this in the wrong forum, feel free to move it elsewhere if you think I have.

Any help anyone can give would be greatly appreciated.

The Key is for the accounts. If you had noticed when you installed the game the first time, it never asked for any code to be entered. If the key was for the install rather than the online account, how would gaming cafes be able to operate as they do? It will install limitlessly, but you only have the one account, and that's all stored with Blizzard.

Oh and technical problems have a home. The technical forum.

Sorry for putting this in the wrong place. I have been through so many hard drives in the past 4-5 years that since I've been given some warning this time, I'm too busy panicking about backing stuff up and what I can or cant replace easily to pay attention to where I was posting.

Thanks for the prompt reply, I honestly didnt notice first time round, but thats helpful to know. I knew something about the key being for an install wouldnt make sense, but as I say I am panicking and not thinking straight.

Lets just hope this new hardware will fix some of the lag/slow down issues I've been having in instances/groups or anything with more than about 4 or 5 mobs on screen at once.
