I want to play with my friends, they are in a pvp world, but I enjoy questing more then pvp. Is there still questing in PVP?

What is honor?

What are marks?

What are instances? both kinds explained?

Whats the chance of someone killing me while I'm soloing?

Are there quests in the horde territory that I have to do?

Thanks.

All this info is available in the new player guide and on WoW's website.

A PVP realm is exactly the same as a PVE realm except for the world PVP. It basically means you are always flagged PVP and you can be killed anywhere.

There are "horde" zones and "alliance" zones (these are generally safe you you to be in) but there are contested zones where it's just a free for all.

Instances are the "dungeons" where it's just your party playing. The term instance means an seperate instance from other players.

yes, both types of servers have ALL of the same quests.

What is honor?

What are marks?

Tokens you get from each battleground. You get 1 for a loss and 3 for a win. You combine honor and marks to purchase gear.

What are instances? both kinds explained?

Instance = Dungeon

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/basics/dungeons.html

Regular Instance = normal mode

Heroic Instance = Hard Mode (can only do once you have a key from the faction that goes along with that particular dungeon - keys are obtained through gaining reputation - see below).

Whats the chance of someone killing me while I'm soloing?

On a pve server (if you're not flagged) none - (if you are flagged-the same chance as on a pvp server).
On a pvp server - anytime you're not in an Alliance controlled Zone

To understand what I'm talking about, see below.

Are there quests in the horde territory that I have to do?

Welcome to the forum.

I highly suggest you take a day and read all the beginner info here:

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/#gettingstarted

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/faq/

It explains all your questions and more (there's more to this game than you think and it's a bit daunting at first), and is put out by the game makers. This will also give you the general information you should have to play.

Yes there is, the game is identical in all respects other than that your character is flagged for PvP permanently when outside of your own territory.

What is honor?
You get honor points for killing other player characters that would have given you experience if they had been monsters. You can spend honor points on getting some special equipment ... for more about this you should look at the PvP - Rewards section of the WoW site.

What are marks?
Marks are tokens that you are given for taking part in a Battleground, which is a special side-game where you are placed in roughly even teams in a specific battleground and have to achieve a specific set of conditions in order to beat the opposition. Of course, the opposite team is also trying to achieve these objectives so the end result involves a lot of fighting. You gain more marks for being a member of the winning team in a battleground, and fewer for losing. Marks are used (with honor points) to purchase special pieces of equipment.

What are instances? both kinds explained?
An instance is an area which is created by the WoW servers specifically for your group or your raid, or just yourself if you want to go into one on your own. When inside an instance, you are effectively removed from the outside world, so no other characters (outside of your group or raid) can enter ... if they try they will go into their own version of the instance. Instances usually take the form of classic "dungeon" environments and are usually pretty amazing to look at. The monsters in instances are mostly "elite" class, which means they are much harder to kill on your own than the regular sorts of monsters you fight outside. Instances are pretty dangerous places to go unless you have friends with you.

Whats the chance of someone killing me while I'm soloing?
In your own lands (ie. anywhere you are normally questing up to about level 20) you need to deliberately flag yourself PvP in order for an enemy player to kill your character. In "Contested zones" (ie. pretty much anywhere you go after level 20) you will be flagged PvP and you will be killed while questing. You will be killed frequently and you will sometimes be corpse-camped ... meaning that it will be difficult to retrieve your body without being killed again. Some zones are worse for this than others but you always need to have an eye out to see if there are any members of the opposite faction in view.

Are there quests in the horde territory that I have to do?
If you are playing Alliance then quests taking you to Horde territory are quite rare, but by no means unheard of. As Alliance in Horde territory you will be flagged PvP but they will not be unless they choose to attack you, this makes travelling through enemy territory very dangerous.

PvP servers are very much an acquired taste, some people love them, others hate them. The bright side is that if you decide that playing on a PvP server isn't for you, you can always go to a PvE or RP server and create a new character there.

You can also do a paid character transfer if you decide you don't like a pvp server - $25 to move your character from a PVP to a PVE server. You cannot, however, transfer the other way - from a PVE to a PVP server - as this would give you an unfair advantage (I.E. lvl to 70 on the "much easier" pve server and then transfer to PVP where everyone else had to face the additional hardships leveling up).
