View Full Version : Rage starve a warrior

A guildie mentioned this term today, and when I asked him to explain further he had a hard time doing so. He pretty much suggested that in my 2v2 I should try not attacking the warrior at all, and just put COW on him and let him "starve" by not doing damage to him, thus preventing him from getting a lot of rage.
Is this an effective way of dealing with warriors? I don't have a warrior myself, so I'm not quite sure of the mechanics.
Input would be appreciated.

If the warrior is trying to hit something with a lot of armor (paladin, shaman) or something which constantly goes out of melee range (druid, mage) or something which uses absorb shields (mage, priest), then yes.

hunters can toss a scorpid sting on the rat bastard too, and let him plink away at whatever without much problem...
did an arena today with a warrior and a lock, targeted the warrior, sting, switched to lock pet, slaughtered it, went to lock, dropped trap at warriors feet, killed lock, turned back to warrior and went with business as usual...just a steady stream of slaughter...

Yes, it is. My shammy can tank a DPS warrior for a very long time- I just throw up water shield so he kindly beats mana into me. Much better than seeing him attack a clothie. Because he's only getting a tiny bit of white damage rage (plus a few CDs), he can't use many special attacks, so it's easy to heal through. Don't get sloppy, remember that your spellcasts may be pummelled (so don't shave safety margins) and you'll be golden.

It all depends on the teams really.
Then it depends on whos-attacking-what.
I have no problems killing a locks puppy then slaughtering a lock, whether someones attacking me or not.
If theres any pet, I'll chall shout, mocking blow to glue it to me a couple times, if it didnt die the first time. Keeps it off my healer. If its a puppy, imma kill it first. Sad face warlock imo.
If its a felguard, I'll let it attack me as an added bonus.
I rarely get attacked in arena. Since I have a healadin partner. 9 times out of 10 they will attack her.
Arena for me is a game of "Can I kill one of their teamates before they kill my healadin."
Most times I can kill a lock and his puppy while their being healed. Some days Im on the ball with the MS debuff maint and perfect pummels. Other days I fumble a bit.
Killing a resto shaman a little tougher, but again it depends.
We fought Shaman+Warrior last night.
I beat on shaman.
Shaman struggles healing himself (mail) being pummeled
Paladin heals me (plate) without problems.
Their warrior attacked me the entire time
He fuels me rage. Making life worse for the shaman.
They basically handed us the fight.
Had their warrior attacked my pally, now its a question of endurance.
Can the shammy heal his mail more efficiently than my pally can heal her plate?
On plate, I can get pretty starved. Like posted, a paladin or perhaps a warrior. Usually on paladins though. They have considerably more armor than a warrior since they have the shield.
What class are you, in arena?

Thanks for the replies guys, I am a SL/SL warlock, partnered with a combat rogue. We do very well for the most part, but when we go against disc priest with an ms warrior we will pretty much loose all the time. The problem is that we aren't able to burst down the healer, nor do I have enough time to drain mana before the warrior kills one of us.
So I figure maybe I shouldn't even put up any dots on the warrior and just "starve" him and see what happens.

Funny you mention because, my healadin has a REAL REAL hard time with rogues. Cant even move. Cant even bubble. Goes for a heal and gets kicked. I try to beat the rogue down to stop him but it usually doesnt work.
For that scenario you got two choices
-Double up on the healer fast, with pet, and ignore the warrior, noobcoiling when its up (doesnt seem to be working for you)
-Double up on the warrior and keep fear fear fear the healer away.

I think the prb. is that hes not speced for pvp, so he doesn't have that 5% stun from maces, which I'm sure would be very helpful. But yeah, will try just going for the warrior right off the bat as well. Thanks
