I know we're not allowed to have a complete random chat thread....soo....this won't be it.

What are you guys doing this weekend?
What are your valentines plans?
What's the weather like?
Where does everyone work?
What books are you reading?
What are you eating right NOW?
What do you wish you were eating right NOW?

I'm terribly bored at work...and trying to resist doing any forms of work....it's Thursday, therefore it's practically the weekend, and who works on the weekend?

*Relaxing, playing wow, maybe shop for a kayak.

*Just dinner, we've never made a huge deal about Valentines due to it's corporate creation.

*Beautiful --> http://weathercenter.com/ (my current weather)

*I wont mention the name specifically but a small Advertising Agency / Broadcast Production Company in Tampa FLA. I'm the Audio Editor / Designer. My wife does accounting.

*Nothing currently. Last book was Timeline. I read ton's of industry magazines for Broadcast and Film/Movie Production.

*Nothing, I usually have oatmeal @ work with my coffee but got a chic-filet breakfast sandwich this morning.

*Nothing, I'm still stuffed from the little Bacon Egg and Cheese B-fast sandwich.

_______

Now you. You didn't answer them for us.

too true xDDx! Sounds like you have a pretty interesting job! I'm also VERY jealous of your location...so warm and sunny *shakes fist in damnation!* hehe

I have to say, I don't know a lot about the people here....anyways...I'll answer :)

+ In-law infestation. Not to mention cleaning...Oh, and my very first karate class! :) wee! I'm excited!!

+ We're going to see cats, and a nice dinner. Other than that- normal day :)

+ Windy, cold, wet. Good old Nova Scotia weather...1 months of sun, 5 months of snow, 6 months of rain.

+ I work at my local hospital doing cardiology research. It's mostly recruiting patients and administrative stuff...I'm by myself a lot...which means I goof off a lot.

+ Slaughterhouse- about the meat packing industry in America...you'll never eat meat again if you read this.
The Anatomy of Spirit- a holistic guide to health...super interesting. Makes you really think about the choices you made in life.
Freakonomics and Night Watch are my two easy reads...

+ I'm not eating anything...i'm super hungry though...ooh look, the next question asks me what I want to eat! Aha!

+ I wish i was at Tarek's, and eating their vegan cabbage roll, with curry rice and cabbage salad...mmm....and one delicious can of coke to top that off......mmmmmmmmmm.....i might have to leave work early.

Go is very similar to Othello, Go is just the original incarnation. Very fun and challenging.

lol no, it aint similar at all ^^ it also uses black and white stones, that is about all that they have in common :) read the article i linked to, you ll find that Go is somewhat more complex :) in fact, it is the most complex game known to mankind.

fun and challenging is right though :)

jschild
01-02-2008, 03:33 PM
I was only stating that they are similar, not the same. Anyone who has ever played Othello will easily grasp the basics of Go. Go is far more complex though (think complexity difference of Checkers vs Chess).

EDIT: Inspired by, rather than similar, might be better wording.

Twoflower
01-02-2008, 03:59 PM
I was only stating that they are similar, not the same. Anyone who has ever played Othello will easily grasp the basics of Go.

again i cannot agree ^^ no matter what games you played before, you need at least 5 games to understand the rules of go. the objective of the game is to build walls which surround territory. the goal is to have more empty territory points inside your wall than your oponent. it is not about capturing or turning stones to your color.

noone will easily grasp the basics of go.

only to see what counts as territory, how that groups are alive or dead etc takes practice. usual beginner mistake is that they make a line around the boarder of the go board and think that the entire board is their territory. It takes getting used to, and to be honest, Othello does not help you one bit. It is completely different.

Spadron: Awww. *hugs* I can find you a lonely nightelf for you :) I have to say freakonomics is great! I’m looking to get my hands on Fast Food Nation, have you read it? What’s Burnout Paradise? Hmm…is it something that might distract me from leveling my warlock *muuahaha*

Jschild: Ok, I wiki’d the movie and read what happened in the last scene…can I just say…CREEPY! This is much like Lost where you can’t simply casually watch it. If you want the entire, spectacular, thought out, crazy town plot, you really need to pay attention to all the details. Check out the wiki site, they have lots of spawn websites they made up to help people figure the plot out….do you think a squeal will ruin the coolness of the movie? I do.

Rotten: …you’re bad! *shame shame double shame* Change that bottle to an nice Merlot and you’ll get the real thing ;) Ok, so you said going on a boat...what are you doing on a boat? Reenacting a pimped out video with lots of ladies in bikinis? :)

Piscene: sounds nice! Little getaways are always fun. I find it refreshes everything! I do, indeed. 35-50 feet down, and the halibut are typically under the top layer of sand, so you have to be really sneaky, and pay attention. they are often quite difficult to see....

Once you strike, the fight is on, unless you get a decent brain shot. After you are sure you have him, and typically while you are surfacing with the fish (since you can't usually carry more than one 28" fish at a time...they are flat, but very wide...) the sea lions come around to see if they can steal him from you.

Trips are wonderful....enjoy!

What are you guys doing this weekend?
Well I missed this on the weekend but I am off tomorrow for Mardi Gras. (New Orleans retail pretty much shuts down on Mardi Gras day.)

What are your valentines plans?
Not sure yet.

What's the weather like?
A little chilly but nice.

Where does everyone work?
Sales but I won't say where.

What books are you reading?
Just finished a few, so nothing at the moment. I need to buy some new ones.

What are you eating right NOW?
Nothing.

What do you wish you were eating right NOW?
Pizza sounds great.
