Yesterday I was ending a BG when I noticed they calculated my honor points at the same time. I had an estimated honor of around 8K but they only gave me 4K. So I am missing 4K... will they give this honor back next time ? I noticed that today I haven't got my 4k missing....

Don't know, I have seen several posts on the official boards regarding lost honor.
I have noticed a bug with the daily where it gets added in multiple times. (this is corrected the after the nightly calculations)
I normally take what I see on the screen and multiply it by .85 and it seems to be pretty close. (No I don't remember where I got that factor from)

In addition to the daily getting counted more than once, the estimated honor also doesn't account for diminishing returns on repeatedly killing the same characters. I've never lost half my honor to these two bugs, but losing a quarter of it isn't that unusual if I kept running into the same opposing players in the battleground.

Download HonorFu.
Never bother with Blizzards useless estimated honor again. (Last night, according to Blizz, I should have gotten 2.4k, HonorFu said 1.8k, got 1875 today)

You probably played cross 3:00 am. I usually lost 2-3K honor if I played over 3:00 am but Blizzard would usually give me back half or that 2-3K the next day. It might be the reason some posters mentioned: multiple daily honor.

Nice info. I would like to do that. Thanks.

I highly recommend it to save frustation.
It also keeps track of your kills vs deaths for the day and keeps a permanent tally of BG wins, along with what battleground weekend it is.
It tends to undercount by about 50-150 depending on how long you play, but never by much. It estimates diminishing returns also.
I would much rather have something that tells me I will get 75 less honor than what I actually get than have it tell me I will get 600 more than what I will. I love waking up and getting that nice new piece of gear - not cursing as i see that I am still 500 off.

I was supposed to have 12.2K today but I woke up this morning and found out that I was 83 honor points short for the Vindicator's Leather Bracers

Yeah the miscalcs are always annoying. I came up 1K short on my item last weekend as well. And I farmed a little extra just in case. Sigh.

Sounds like the miscalcs are going away :-) In another thread here, there's a link to a thread where they're doing away with diminishing returns in PvP honor, the only reason for the miscalcs. As an added bonus, the honor will be available to be spent immediately.

The misscalcs are largely dependant on the daily BG Q.
It gives the reward amount in expected every time you zone (Not to BGs, but for example shatt->org). For some it's capped at 2 times, for some it can be an endless amount of expected boosts.
But, you get the correct amount. So most people will get at least 400 less than they expected, some more.
