Whats a professiona nd how to get one?

Im a level 7 hunter, just starting playing. Im currently questing and grinding trying to get as much silver and lvl ups as I can. But I see people talking about professions. I have the game guide and it talks about it brefily. But it doesnt specify when I need to get one or anything. So any help in regards to professions is greatly appreciated.

Profession would be something like Leather Worker, Mining, Tailor, etc. You can have two main professions and some minor ones like cooking and first aid. Any major city would have a trainer.

If you want to make money early, get two gathering professions like Mining and Skinning or Herbalism and Skinning.

Thanks for the info guys. I ended up going with leatherworker and skinner. I like the skinner cause you earn money. But where can i find coarse threads?

Around your LW trainer should be a supplier or a general goods supplier.

Actually you won't make a whole heap of money with skinning if you're a leatherworker too. You'll be using all the leather you skin (and then some) just to keep your leatherworking skill up to scratch. Not that it's a bad choice by any means, just don't expect to make a huge amount of money with it.
