Woke up this morning. Had snowed and iced on Monday, then iced and sleeted again Tuesday night. My wife had broken her ankle right after Christmas.

Told her Tuesday and Wednesday she couldn't go to work because of all the ice and slipping hazards.

Tuesday morning, cleared off most of the snow and ice off the sidewalks and driveway. Tried to buy some salt at the store but they were sold out.
Wednesday morning, recleared off some of the ice and driveway.
Thursday morning, since my wife was going to work, needed to clear off the sidewalk and driveway around her van so she wouldn't slip. Was a ***** getting it all and when 90% done, my back was almost spasming so I went in to rest for a min.

"Are you done?" Asked my wife.
"Almost, backs just hurting a bit trying to get it all off"
"Why don't you put some salt on the ice" she says.
"We don't have any, and the store was sold out" I say.
"Yes we do"
"No, we don't. I checked the basement. I used up all what we had last year."
"No, my grandmother brought some for us last week in case we got some ice."
"...............You're......just telling me this now?" I ask, a bit peeved.
"Yeah, why?"
"I cleaned off the driveway tuesday....and you didn't mention this."
"I cleaned off the driveway wednesday...and you didn't mention this."
"I just about cleared every bit of the driveway off today and you just NOW mention THIS?" I ask....very peeved.
"I just forgot, nothing to get mad about."

I left the room at that point to keep from saying bad things.

Go to work, planning to meet my wife at Fazoli's and pick up Josh on the way there. Amazing timing has us there 1 min before she gets there. Wife pulls up and gets out. Locks the van. With the keys in it.

"Do you have keys to the Van?" she asks.
"No, I just have my keys, why?"
"I locked them in the van"
".......well.....where is the spare set?" I asked, meaning where at the house are they.
"I.......think they are in the van."
"Why are both sets of keys in the van?" I ask...getting frustrated.
"I couldn't find mine one day...so I put took them instead and never put them up.....I think. They might be in my backpack in the bedroom."

I go inside, and head off to home to see if they are there. While searching I find on the chair next to her spare purse 2 envelopes. They are from my sister, to me and my son. For our birthdays. That were over 2 weeks ago. That I never got. Of course....the keys were not there either.

So, long story, not so short. I'm playing WoW tonight and my wife is NOT getting any.

Hopefully everyone else is having a better night than me.

1. you married her.

2. When she doesn't get any, neither do you....get her back by doing her while thinking of Scarlet Johannson.

Awwww Jschild. You make mine almost sound good. I had to phone my fiancé to call of our plans because of work. At least I got Nandos on the way back, so if I behave for the next year or two I might be forgiven.

Your wife reminds me of me :). Be nice to her (we don’t do it to annoy you… we are only clueless. And we do try). But… uhm… you do have my sympathy.

I have already...if it was just one thing it wouldn't have gotten to me. (And I didn't mention it, but she has a VERY bad habit of picking up the mail....and setting it down and forgetting where she put it).

I'm far from perfect, trust me, and have done many boneheaded things. This was just more a rant to relieve some stress. Luckily we aren't really doing Valentine's for ourselves until this weekend.

poor jschild.

I'm sorry to hear about your valentines, but why punish yourself? I hope you did get a little action! It sounds like you needed it after that day :)

Us ladies can be a bit forgetful at times! I know I am. I've lost my keys a number of times only to find them a few days later in my pocket :) We're not trying to be difficult, we just have a lot on our mind >.<

My Valentine's day stuff got pushed to today. Something about my Girlfriend working until 8pm, me being at school and not getting back to my place until 9pm, and both of us more or less being exhausted, so we're having our Valentine's date tonight, since we both actually get off from work at 5pm (for once).

Look at it this way, jschild: at least your wife isn't actively seeking to screw you over. She seems mainly just a bit absentminded.

LOL...good story.

Now for comments.

1. the driveway....you probably needed the exercise anyway. Exercise is good for you, and playing WoW obviously doesn't work those back muscles enough.

2. the salt....how huge is your house and how out of touch are you with the family? How did you NOT notice that grandmother brought extra salt over last week? Grandmother > WoW

3. the keys.....man-to-man, do yourself a favor right now and put a set of keys for BOTH / ALL vehicles on YOUR keyring, right now.

4. the birthday cards...look at it this way. If you got the cards when you were expecting them, they wouldn't have been as much of a surprise as they were, 2 weeks later. It's not like it was 2 week old cake.

Me and my gf don't do anything about Valentine's day. We have our own special day on the first of march, chosen randomly to celibrate our love.

Our day rocks!

Well I can't believe how mature you've all been about this....

but I'm just about ready to explode, with jokes about how good a valentine that sucked would be...

(There I go, lowering the tone again)

I sat in the dank basement of a 100 year old schoolhouse and played fallout 2 on an ancient Mac.

It was a good Valentines :D
