Well, today I will be going to return my laptop and try to get a better one. I know that desktop computers are better for gaming but I would prefer a laptop. The current laptop I have right now is HP PAVILION DV9627 cl Notebook PC. I bought this from SAMS Club(Yes, I know! But this is the closest by my house). I want to get a better laptop that can handle gaming, such as Call of Duty 4, WoW, Counterstrike: Source and possibly some future games. I am willing to spend between $1,000-$1,500 no more. Here is a page of the laptops:

I was looking through there and found this:

Do you guys think this would be a good one for gaming?
Also, feel free to give me a link from Bestbuy, Circuit City, or even from a internet business. I would appreciate if anyone would give me some advice or help me make a decision.

Technical issues belong in the Technical Forum, so this thread is moved.
The laptop you have chosen will do you well, about as good as you can expect from a mobile device. It shall do fine.

I apologize! I didn't see the Technical forum =[ So what kind of settings would I be able to run games on? High, medium, low?

Medium to high, varying on each game due to the demands changing between them.

So your saying that this computer is a good deal, and would be good for gaming?
Also are there any websites where you can do a lab test with any computer spec? Where it lets you type in computer specs and then it checks if the game will run with those specs?

I'm saying it is a good machine for gaming indeed.
What you ask for does not exist per say, because there would be no way to teach people a uniform way to type components out with, there's no agreed standards, so if such a product was made, your configuration would never be recognisable.
However, the sticky threads have lists of links and programs of individual components benchmarked, see Tomshardware and such, as well as a plugin to forecast performance for designated games compatibility with the host computer. The individual component benchmarks are the most useful, and most grounded in emperical measurements.

I'd rather get this model http://www.samsclub.com/shopping/navigate.do?dest=5&item=377912&itemid=884577
It has two 8600M GT in SLI mode. There is a version with a better display around too, having a resolution of 1680x1050.
With the two 8600M GT and the 2GHz Processor you will get around 6500 3D Mark 06, which isnt bad at all. With overclocking you can get this (http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=4811439) result easily. That is pretty decent for a Laptop and it even runs Crysis at medium settings fine.
Oh and.. the speakers are the best I've ever heard on a notebook. Finally you can listen to music on notebooks too, about time!
Cheers

Thanks for the help. What would you say about a Asus G1S-X3 Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 2.2GHz?

Compared to the Toshiba that was mentioned above (with the SLI) this Asus doesn't compare.
However, in my experience Toshibas (especially top of the line Toshibas) have a tendency to overheat unless treated very carefully. There's a lot of heat producing component jammed into that thing, and if you don't keep a can of compressed air around for cleaning it out regularly, and keep air flow going, you'll be able to fry an egg on it.

Also, the screen of the Asus is smaller. If you don't plan to carry your notebook around, then take a larger screen for less eye strain. And 1680x1050 on a 15" makes text very small, this resolution was ment for 20" screens.

Well, I am thinking about returning it today and maybe getting

or if they have a better one. Would I be able to run games on this fine(Call of Duty4, Wow)? I know I already asked this question but I want to be sure that more people confirm this.
