you're not too clear on your problem here. im not sure where the lag is coming from.
248mb of ram is very low. i had 1 gig and it was running ok. i added another gig and its running a lot better now.

a 120gb external hard drive will do nothing to "help" your lag. what are you trying to do with the hard drive anyway?

and being in a big city has nothing to do with the amount of RAM you have.

please clarify. thanks!

getting a bigger hard drive is different from RAM. So no, that wouldnt help at all. You need to upgrade your RAM and i'm guessing on a system with that much ram, your video card also. Do you know your computer specs? You should prob post them all, not just your RAM. If you really want to know more about RAM you can read the wikipedia article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RAM but its confusing). If you dont know how to get your system specs (and your using XP/Vista, idk if this works with any older O/S) just click Start, click Run, type dxdiag in the Open box, and then click OK. Once you do that a window will come up with some info about your Computer(Should look like this http://img.microsoft.com/library/media/1033/technet/images/prodtechnol/windows2000serv/reskit/prork/pref04.gif). Go over to display (its a tab on the top of the page) and it should say Device, click on that and a tab will show uo that says Name, manufacturer, chip type and some other things. The part next to Name is what your video card is. Also, if you look on the System tab (the one you started on) you should see something that says memory third from the bottom, thats your RAM. 4th from the bottom is your Processor, which might also be helpful in telling you what you have to do to reduce your lag. Theres prob an easier way to do all this, but i'm so used to just doing this that i dont know it.

We need full system specifications.

248MB RAM indicates a 8MB graphics card which isn't going to be running anything at a decent framerate.

But as Kalos says, we'll need full system specs to say exactly what the cause is.
