Ok so I log on to get the message. My account has been temporarily suspended.
Ok, no idea why but at least it's not permanant.
How long is suspended? I had no email through from them, and account management says access has been blocked.
Meh, i'm level 47 btw.
Oh well, I guess my quest to 70 will be deterred for a while.
Thanks =]

I've just started trying to get it running in Linux, which I'm guessing may affect their Warden thingy so I wouldn't be surprised if I'm next :)

Go on to account management on main site and see what it says there, but usually you have to send an email confirming you own the account or similiar to them.
And, you can run it on linux, as long as you do not edit their software. I believe ubuntu is the usual base to run it on, and then an emulator ontop of that, but not sure. There's an excellent guide to getting it running on European Technical Forums, stickied i believe.

Anybody know how long it is likely to last?

Warden doesn't falsely identify Linux systems as bad any more. Not for over a year. Blizzard has people working in coordination with both CodeWeavers (WINE) and TransGaming (Cedega) to ensure that the Warden doesn't do its massive false positives like it did before.
I have no idea how long a temporary ban will last....but in threads about it, usually 24-72 hours are mentioned.

My guess is 72 hours as well. I think it kind of depends on the reason. You might still get an email stating this, it's the weekend so they are pretty slow, even for their standards. Usually there is also some vague description of a possible reason mentioned in the email they send. As Suicider said, you might have to send them a copy of a photo ID to prove that no one has broken into your account.
If you are sure you didn't pay for anything icky (gold, powerleveling) or didn't download from some dodgy site, it probably will be fine. It's also quite refreshing that you acknowledge yourself that it's not so bad, being only temporarily: we don't get that attitude here too often.
Keep us posted.

Keep in mind to keep an eye on the junk filter in your e-mail account as well. Blizzard sent e-mails sometimes end up there. Have seen that occur myself, when I was sent one of their WoW updates.

After 2 days i receive an email stating it is for online trading.
WHAT?
'Your i.p has been fluctuating'
What does that mean in standard language?
It's 72 hours, and they think i've been powerlevelling.
Lovely, must be because I go on it on two seperate computers or something.
Ahh well it's not for ever, i'll just stick to the 1 computer in the future.

strange, make sure to change your password as soon as posible. maybe you got a keylogger, and they logged on and seen you haven't got enuff stuff and gold to take yet.
2 computers shouldn't cause it, if they'er in the same city. unless you let a friend play on your account and he logged in while you were playing.

I never 'Let' anyone play on my account.
Anyone.
So I think the only feasible answer is that I was hacked, don't worry my password was reset for me, and then I changed it to something completely different.
Doubt it was a keylogger, but my password was probably guessable by friends.
Interrogation sessions tonight.

Do a full sweep of your comp anyway. It's not that unusual for IPs to differ somewhat. Home comp and laptop use come to mind. Real red flags start to show when one moment you're logging in from Crabapple Cove and the next time from Beijing and then having you log in from Crabapple Cove again, all in a timeframe in which it's simply not possible to travel back and forth in.
And that's the idea I'm getting from the info you've provided.

What most people don't realize is that you can tie IPs to a location. Not to an exact address, but to a city. For example, you can tell by my IP that I'm in Seattle. Blizzard shouldn't care about multiple Seattle IPs... but if I log in from home, log out and then, 45 mins later, log in from, say Florida or the UK or China... well, it's simply not possible that it's me both times.
So, I'd push them on this a bit - most IPs are dynamically assigned so you might well present several IPs as yours gets updated but they should all seem to be located in the same area.
Also if you have several computers behind a router it's the router's IP that's presented to the world, not those of your computers. So that's not an issue.

Unless thy both trace to radically different locations, I don't think there is a worry. Is one of your IP's based in China, while the other in the US? If so, you might have a worry. If both show being in the US, or both in Europe, and more specifically, that geographically would go to basically the same area, I doubt there will be a problem.

 but i do pay for 2 net connections, one in london, one in Shanghai!!!!! :azn:
Actually one thing I am a bit worried about is when I move out of home soon. Im moving a few hundred miles away, and I guess it will mean I'll have to not log into my sisters account. Which will be annoying because I do all of her auctions for her, and we share some bank characters on each others accounts too. But not worth the risk I guess.

That shouldn't be a problem, honestly. That said, you aren't supposed to share accounts, at all. Blizzard frowns on it.

I handle all of my fiance's auctions as well, he mails me everything he wants sold. The new multi item mails makes it a lot easier than it used to be so that may be one option for you both to think of.
I keep about 25% of the profits of course but I guess that is the price you pay for not selling your own junk.

To Blizzard, that's still sharing. And, they are very free to hand out bans for it when found out.

It's too bad 2 people who are each paying for an account can't share access. Blizzard's not losing anything in the way they are if someone shares an account with a person who doesn't have their own. But I can see so problems that I completely understand their POV.

It is because of the problems, that they need the blanket rule. Could you imagine trying to sort out the exceptions for 10+ million accounts?

Just create a separate toon on your account, run to a city, and use that for handling her auctions. No reason to have to log into her account.

Exactly. That's why it's too bad... if 2 people each paid for an account and wanted to share that wouldn't be any hit to Blizz's revenues etc. But oh lord, the exceptions.... in their place I'd do the same thing.

I wish that stupid rule didn't exist, sure there should be preventions against powerlevelling, but if the revenue created isn't a problem for sharing accounts then why have it?
Meh.

See, I have a flash drive I carry, which I plug into my college computers. On it is a copy of firefox, with all of my standard settings. Everyting about it remains separate from what the school uses, that way if I want to use anything with secrecy, I can use it (like cookies to let me get into sites without needing to log in).
Between that, my phone, and my laptop, that is.

I fail to see the benefit in doing it that way. VMWare takes space, and processing power to manage. I wanted a solution where I could have all of my personal settings on a web browser, but could use it on the school computers.

But yea using a flash drive would help.
