Can anyway tell me or point me to a mining guide? I just don't get it, I'll be running around a T4 area and there will be 3 different tiers of ore there and ones right next to each other will have completely different skill level requirements!
Alls I need is to be able to head out and mine the stuff I need to craft. As it is I've run out of money to buy stuff off the AH and can't just go out and get what I need with any success :(

If your mining is low level (below 55), the northern Barrens is not a bad place to mine. Almost all nodes in that area spawn as copper.
A good place to find copper nodes is to the northeast of the crossroads, where the bristlebacks hang out. There are almost always ore nodes near bristleback encampments.
The eastern edge of the Barrens, near Durotar and Ratchet, can be good sometimes too.
Bear in mind you can also earn mining points by smelting your ore. Though, this may decrease the value of the item on the auction house. On my server, ore is worth more than bars.
Also, the official forum FAQ on mining is here (http://wow.incgamers.com/wiki/Mining).

what is T4 area?
yea sometimes you'll get better ores close to the usual ores in that zone. its sometimes in out of the way places or inside caves. haha. like Litmus said, smelting the ores into bars will help you level some of it up. The reason ores are more expensive sometimes is that people pay for the privilege to level up their mining without having to mine, but the main reason is because jewelcrafters prospect ores. they cant prospect smelted bars. sell to the jewelcrafters. there are less engineers and blacksmiths to sell to, and oftentimes, they have mining to compliment their craft arleady.

Go to Google, and search for "gatherer addon". That will surely help you on your way with finding specific veins.

Actually, gatherer is only for nodes YOU (or your guild/party) identify....I used it for a few years, and then discovered cartographer....
Cartographer includes a complete data set, and can even plan efficient routes for you to follow, which will maximize your success.

Gatherer has a very large premade database, which you can easily import. Then you and possibly party/guild members add to it.

Big help, thanks Elly :)
Don't need the skill up so much as the specific nodes to get my Engineering up - 20 more for net-o-matic :)
