Anyone Else Notice This? (or is it just me?) *spoiler*

There was a lot of buzz over Kael'thas Sunstrider on the PTR when he was first encountered. He's now an undead, but people were saying that he seems to have been resurrected and is perhaps being kept alive by the green crystal sticking out of his chest, as seen below:

Well, hasn't that crystal always been there? He's always had a strange glowing bulge in his chest, this is what he looks like before he gets his behind kicked:

From my battle with him it certainly didn't look like there was enough bulge room for a crystal, but this is blizzard so who knows.

The grayish appereance of Blood Elves can be seen more, like in the Ghostlands. I forgot what's this condition is called. It's different from 'undead'.

'The Wretched', which denotes a Blood Elf who has succumbed to his/her addiction to Fel Magic. And you're correct, this is indeed what Kael'Thas Sunstrider has become following his defeat in Tempest Keep.

He is not undead... in the MT fight he remains of 'humanoid' type rather than 'undead'.

Having had to look at his huge ugly chest for several weeks, I can promise you that crystal wasn't there in Tempest Keep, unless it was a lot smaller.

So if Sunstrider going to be some Wretched boss, does that mean that players won't be able to kill the current one?

And nope, simply means you get to fight him twice, once in his normal form, then as the wretched he's become.

The glow coming from his chest area is from his necklace. You can see this very clearly in the video you posted, at one point.

Yar, when you turn in your Verdant Sphere to get your nice necklace, there's an event in the middle of Shatt where the song of battle buff goes up, and you're bigged-up in public, but then an image of Kael appears to ruin things, and gives this little speech:


Your monkeys failed to finish the job naaru. Beaten, but alive...The same mistake was not made when we took command of your vessel. All for what? Trinkets? You are too late. The preparations have already begun. Soon the master will make his return.

So it's clear he's (potentially) alive and most certainly kicking at this point. It will seem strange to drop him in a five-man, though, after all the fuss to beat him the first time :-)
