I quit playing wow about a year ago, I had a lvl 70 doorf priest and just didn't feel like playing anymore. I was wondering if it were possible to have changed the registered owner name on the account. Someone who wasn't me, because when I call blizzard they said the name on the account was different from what it was originally and that all the other information was changed. But I still had correct CD-keys and even had a game card that was used on the account. I was just wondering if it were possible for anyone but me to change it. Maybe it was an option a year ago? Could someone help me. I think my brother may have traded it, but I don't know.

All I can say is account transfers are not recognized by Blizzard and are a valid reason for them to permaban the account (see the relevant sections in the ToS).

It's possible to alter some of the data entered in the account (this in case you moved), but you can't alter everything, iirc.

You can't alter the name on the account.

I have friends, a married couple, who each had their own WoW account. However, since the husband had opened both accounts and both accounts used his credit card, he had put his name down as the owner of the account. The wife got paranoid when Blizzard started cracking down on people using another person's account and asked me to call Blizzard Billing on her behalf to ask about it.

Billing's take on it? Even though they were a married couple, technically she is in violation of the TOS because she is using an account that does not have her name on it. All other information on the account can be changed, EXCEPT the name. Even in her case where they are a legally married couple, she would still be considered to be using an account that is not hers. Even if she sent in a copy of their marriage license, they could not change the name on the account. The billing agent also said that the chances that Blizzard would actually do anything about it in this case were slim, but if she wanted to be 100% safe, she would need to open an account in her name, which she did.

The billing agent said that the only exception they made was in cases where the account had just been opened within the last 24 hours and the person called to change the name because they had made a mistake, like mistyping their name. However, after this relatively short window, the name on the account cannot be changed for any reason.

When I moved to a new home, and when my bank reissued my credit card (changing the numbers) because it was associated with a website that got its billing database stolen, I was able to change all that information with no problem. But past the first 24 hours or so, an account's name cannot be changed.

I don't know how old you are but it may be in your parent's name if they opened the account with a credit card.

You may also have lied about your name at the time or only given partial name / nickname. I have done that on a few registrations to things I didn't think I would use again, like only last initial or something. It is fine until you forget what you used.

I think my brother may have traded it, but I don't know.

Or, you bought an account, and now want to.....do something?

I can attest that this info is largely correct, but not completely....There is a very narrow circumstance you haven't mentioned, and which does not [appear to] apply here, where you can change the name. If it becomes relevant here, I'll give more detail.
