View Full Version : I will stop playing if they change the Gank rules on a PVP realm

I have been playing for a couple of years now and I can truly say that if they change the rules regarding ganking I will stop playing. Some of the most fun I have had is world PvP, trying to finish quests while keeping an eye out for gankers, big world pvp random events (like attacking the bridges in Astranaar), Stealing a chest from an enemy while he/she is engaged with a mob (don't whine! That is not ninja'ing...), chasing down shamans and druids over two zones and the list goes on.
For those that say there is no reason to gank, you are forgetting the reason for existence within WoW. It is not to hang around Org. or IF looking cool and typing /dance, it is to get out there and destroy the enemy no matter what color their name is! Harass, and slow down the progress of the opposition. You are the horde/Alliance! Take some pride and fight! If you don't like it why did you roll on a PvP realm? Leave those of us on a PvP realm who actually like it alone and create a character (or move an existing one) on a PvE realm. And never come onto this section of these forums again!

Don’t we have enough posts about this topic?
One of my characters is an Orc, and I have enough pride in my race that I won’t go against Thrall’s wishes to kill the Alliance indiscriminately (never mind the fact that he would bash my head in if I did – as he did with at least one of his Warchiefs).
Besides, people will quit if they nerf their class, buff another class, remove attunements, add attunements, give better gear to PvP’ers, give worse gear to PvP’ers, add resilience, remove resilience… you get the idea.
I don’t have any strong feelings about ganking. I’ll argue for any side that has the “least worse” arguments – or depending on how I feel that day.
Edit: Sorry Cal, that sounded a bit harsher than I wanted it too. But your post did sound like those 10000 "I'm going to quit" posts we get on the official forums. And I know that's not really like you :)

It's your ball and skipping rope, and your right to storm home with it. However, it would be lovely if you could spare people the details when you do, lest this start to sound like the official forums.

Much as I agree with the sentiment, why did we need a new thread for this when there's already two going?
Not that I'll quit if they change PvP realms into not-really-PvP realms, because they aren't going to, full stop.

It won't be changed, because WoW is a business model and the change would cost blizzard $$$$$.
As I've said before people have 2 viable options if they don't like world pvp.

sorry people, I am sort of hung over... just was reading that blog and comments section where people were going on about turning people into chickens and preventing people from attacking grays and stuff, and I just lost my patience with these goofs a little bit. sorry... too much Red Stripe at Reggae night.

wow....I will stop reading if I sense a dead horse is being beaten......
This subject has been thrashed to death.
If you feel the need to quit, then just do so. I've 'quit' several times for more than three months at a time...For some reason, I'm lame and keep coming back.

Can I still hire a serial killer to track down and murder every person who says they'll go to Warhammer which is the second coming of Christ?

what's the joy of PvP if you cant go into enemy territory and destroy it? cal has a point. its like telling us we can join a PvP realm and then telling us we cant PvP in it.

No, we don't have enough posts, we have way too many. Seriously, if we have nothing better to talk about, can we just talk about nothing? This is getting ridiculous.

Caldepen, I would be forced to leave World of Warcraft too. I don't mind getting ganked by the opposite faction. This adds more fun and challenge to the game. If you don't want to get ganked, than there are some things you can do.
1) Use the less populated areas of the map. When you are running around, try avoiding use the roads.
2) Level to 40 and get a mount. Most of the time, I can ride my mount away without getting killed.
3) Go to a Normal server.
Not trying to be mean, but why would people be on a PVP server if you are tired of getting ganked? You can easily go to a Normal server and play on there. I don't understand whats so bad about getting ganked. Yes, I can understand the opposite faction attacking a town constantly. This is what makes the game fun though.

Me and the gf were driven near insane by 70s killing us this weekend while trying to quest, but that's why we're here - the challenge! Has something prompted this post like speculation that a change is inc or it it scaremongering?
To be fair I think the one 70 was going to leave us alone until we picked off the 30 he was boosting :D

See? Now thats cool! Those are the kind of stories you can only experience on a PvP realm!

Absolutely - those who enjoy this playstyle, have leveled with this playstyle, and stuck with it for months or years... deserve to keep it.
I mean, hell, I used to play Ultima Online where the penalty for getting 1 shotted at 10% health by another player was a 30 minute corpse run and loss of every item you had on your body - compared to that, a little Corpse Camping or a 70 one shotting you is nothing.
That being said, I think it's completely stupid, which is why I play on a PvE server. So someone ganks you, you run back to your body in 45 seconds, and keep going. You gank someone 20 levels lower, your reward is to /laugh at them. Does that really get your jollies off? To me, PvP style play is just an annoyance - I'm never going to gank, so why subject myself to it?
Give me a server where you get to kill someone and LOOT THEIR BODIES DRY... and oh *hell yes* I would be all over it, leveling a Warrior... the most gear dependent class. *THAT'S* a challenge. :)

Totally agree.
At least those being miserable on a PvP server have an option other then rerolling. I have several old toons on normal servers that I don't play any more.
