View Full Version : Do some woman hide in wow from real life?

The last couple of days i have been brain storming this concept.
There a lot of reasons why people play wow,and a lot of different ways of playing as well, some like to pvp, others like to rp,etc, etc.
I have been playing wow since Us beta, and i have noticed something that is kinda a rule of thumb.
Lots of the in game female characters are played by woman, and these characters flirt and have a somewhat rumbacious behaviour.
From a long line of guilds that i have been in i can assure these players were not.......hmmm how could i say it without making anyone feel insulted......lets just say they were born with good graces.
I am not saying nothing against them,i am just stating a fact,i have seen pics of a lot of woman from a lot of guilds and they do not match the character they play online.
These woman why do they behave like this?
I mean they dance naked in IF or SW,they flirt around guildies on vent and flirt with strangers on the game.
And here is an after-video:

If they had the excuse of rp they would roll on a role playing server wouldnt they?
Is this a way for them to hide who othey are pysically and be another person online?
Is this a way to hide themselfs behind a character in an online game because they dont like how they
look in real life?
Do they have a rumbacious behaviour ingame trying to make up for they way they are to afraid to be in real life?
And to leave this perfectally clear,i am not saying anything against these woman,i do not want this post taken as an insult or anything like that.

Making the assumption that a female character = a female player is foolhardy at best.
And I'm paranoid about links, I won't follow that one, I don't recognize the domain. I'm also tired, or else I'd investigate further.

That link is very suspicious.
Going to have to do a better job at posting a vid, other than throwing it in a zip file and expect us to download it trustingly

As far as I can tell, a good majority of "female" toons in the game are played by guys. Conversely, I've also seen a good amount of RL females that play male toons. My wife's main toon is a male gnome mage whereas my mains are a female NE druid and a female human rogue.
One can't judge the RL person by the toon they play. In many cases, they don't really say much about the person behind the monitor other than their preference for the toon they picked.
I'm also not clicking the link. I don't know this person and don't click links usually... especially zip files.

That is one fantastic word! Can I have your permission to use it as well?

Its all true!! And all the males that play WoW are spotty geeks that can't get laid ...
Now, run along and troll elsewhere.

Maybe I'm being paranoid, but I'm willing to bet that link is a keylogger.
Reporting the post anyway ...

I'm almost certain it is a keylogger. The same link has been posted on the official forums multiple times as a link to a porn site, so whatever you do don't download it.
Thread reported.

Links leading to a zip file are always dodgy, so you were right to be suspicious. I left the post open in case someone wants to discuss the actual subject of it (although I'm not really counting on it ) but I fed the poster and his link to Fluffy the Murloc.
On a side note, do not ever download a file from a link posted by a one-time user like this.

So the OP wasn't making a serious thread then?...>.>

As a female player, I feel I have to respond. But I will keep it brief and to the point:
Lots of the in game female characters are played by woman, and these characters flirt and have a somewhat rumbacious behaviour.
You are making the incorrect assumption that most female characters who flirt, dance naked, and otherwise act like harlots in-game are played by real-life women. Almost no female players I know do that in game, and in fact are annoyed by it when they see others doing it.
I play the game because it's a fun way to spend time. End of discussion.

Ok maybe this is a stupid question but I will pose it anyway. Isn't the point of a rpg to be someone or something you can't in real life? I play a female NE priest. I play to spend time with my honey and to have some fun and realx after a hard day at work. It kinda amuses me that you can run around and dance almost naked in the game. But I don't assume that anyone doing that in game is anything other than trying to have some fun and release some frusterations. I would never assume that a toon is the same sex in RL as they are in game.

I have 10 characters on my server. Half are male, half are female. I am male in RL. I don't run around naked etc. in the game on any of my characters, I picked them for diversity first and foremost. I evenly distributed the races, classes, and genders between them, ending up with two hunters (9 classes, 10 characters, one class gets doubled).
I also never, ever lead anyone on that I am female. But, I also don't have any interest in any kind of "sexual situation" in WoW... Real Life is a far better solution for that. In a way, when I made my female characters, I figured that if I'm going to stare at some character's posterior for hours on end, I might as well enjoy the view. Other times, I picked a character that tickles my sense of irony, and other times there was a specific character concept I had in mind.

Snow I dont' know how to say this but Fluffy's looking a little... big. I'm a bit concerned about the high fat concentration of an all troll diet. Maybe if you let Fluff swing the banhammer instead of doing it for him (her?). Exercise is good.

If, you do, then be sure to spell it: rambunctious
Which means as much as: marked by uncontrollable exuberance
And it's a British English term, as opposed to one found with you Yanks.
So the OP wasn't making a serious thread then?...>.>
Maybe they were, maybe they weren't. Either way, we don't like taking chances and having folks saddled with keyloggers. If, it's an honest mistake, then it'll get sorted out. If, not.. Well.. Goooooood bye bye..

Fluffy's paws are better suited towards clawing and rending than using instruments or weaponry.
Besides, we use the hammer to knock folks out, so they don't struggle when they get eaten. Or at least, so they can't struggle a lot. If, we let Fluffy do it all, then we'd end up with folks screaming and yelling and running hither and fro, and a snarling Fluffy chasing after them all across the boards, and it still hasn't learned the distinction between food and not-food. In short, not a wise idea.
Besides, those fat reserves are there for the lean times, and we do have those sometimes. It simply "hibernates" and that's the closest term I can think of, considering what it does, until new food arrives.

I think he more than likely came from the Abyss with that notion than Baator.

He didn't. It was just an attempt to get folks to click on the link by making it seem a serious and thought provoking post. It happens regularly on the official forums.

So true. And the blood must be hard to get out of the office carpeting. And I never knew Fluffy hibernated! Thanks for the behind the scenes peek at the Life Of Fluff.
