Hi guys
I'm a lvl 65 Shadow Priest and I'm interested in getting PvP gear.
Now, I was just thinking, when I get to lvl 70 I'll get PWNED big time by people who have been lvl 70 for the past year or so racking up really good gears and enchants.
So I thought of an idea. What if I stay at lvl 69 first, twink out (Will be fairly easy for me) and rack up honor points from BG's I'll get my honor points faster because then I will be able to help my team out better (and not be a useless lvl 70 with under par gear in lvl 70 BG's)
Then after racking up my honor with my twinked out Priest I'll be able to rack up some decent lvl 70 gear for the arena.
Then I'll be able to at least be competative in the arena and get some arena gear.
Is this a good idea or am I just complicating the situation?
Is there a simpler solution to this? Should I just go into the arena lose alot and then finally get some equips?
Will you end up losing alot in BG's and arenas the moment you hit 70 or is there a work around?

There is a big deficit in honor gain from 69-70. You could do that but it would be quite a waste of time, if you ding 70 and get a good whole day of solid pvp in you can get ~9k honor. With 2 days of that you can get your S1 chest, gloves, pants, a weapon. Just ding 70, take the beating for a while and tough it out.

I would not stay at 69 or twink a 69 character.
PVP-wise
1. The honor kill and BG honor points reward to 70s are more than lvl 60s.
2. The sooner you enter the arena, you faster you get your S3 gears.
3. Less ganked after you turn 70
PVE-wise
1. You can do kara and heroic instance so you gear up fast.
2. You make more money after 70 - daily quests
You get honor points faster if you can get into BG premades.

This.
And just as a side note, I believe if you build a Shadow Priest to PvP/Arena, you will be very disappointed. Currently, they are *horrible* in that respect. If you like Shadow, I would recommend just spec it for raids... and when its time to Arena/PvP, get out Healing PvP Gear and Spec Discipline. I nearly quit the class over the frustration of being a Shadow Priest in PvP until I changed to Discipline.

Hit level 70 ASAP.Get into arena, get points. Get into BG's, farm honor
I had the same idea with my druid. Hit 69 and farm BG's. I soon found out that it was just as long of a grind as it is at 70 because what you dont realize is how many level 61's and what not are going to be on your team in bg's.

Yep! Everyone (almost) loves shadow priests in raids.
My shadow priest got 302 resil and she is the main tank in 5v5 for the first 5 seconds. She does OK in 2v2 and 3v3.
Shadow priests can't beat discipline priests; they drain your mana and heal themselves. After your mana runs out, you'd better run, too.
If you think killing blows are important (I don't), shadow priests always sit at the first 5 KBs.

How horrible?
So what you're saying is, Shadow Priests are more inclined for PvE rather than PvP is that correct?
How do Disc Priests do better in PvP I thought Shadow Priests were awesome at DoT and DPS

Shadow Priests sit at the first 5 KB's? Erm I according to Zulran were bad at PvP once we hit 70. Can you explain more please?

In pvp and arena specially SURVIVABILITY is your bread and butter , simply outlive your opponents , selfheal , heal your buddies , drain the enemys mana .....
Thats why mages specc frost (usually) for arena , lower dmg but higher survivability and a big bag of tricks , same goes for warlocks (SL/SL build , quiet gimped outside arena) , an ench/pure ele shammy ...nah they usually go quiet deep in resto ...etc..etc..etc
Your role in arena is to try to stay alive (and yes , you WILL be one of the first targets) and heal/help your mates.
And regarding to get the gear at 70 ding (my priest is 67 atm) , do all pvp dailys , its exp+honor and i go inside BG's from now to then and earn me some points/badges , my goal is to cap it at ding to quick get me Vindi gear and start arena asap (for the S3 as a goal).

I see.
I heard a year ago that Shadow Priests were great for PvP. When did they nerf Shadow Priests?
Does this mean I should get healing gear for Arenas?

I havent really decided yet if i go for the "pure" healing gear (pvp) or the other set avaliable ..... but the main stats to look for in arena is STAMINA and RESILENCE , and all pvp rewards comes with that.
I actually saved the quest staff i got from Terrokar quest (?) with resilence and the rings from Ramps (?) to have atleast some gear with pvp stats  and uses it in outfitter in BG's nowdays
But back to Season gear.... on one hand much+heal i good ... and much +dmg is good too  (SW:P will be used and some smiting/MB) ... but hell i got 3 lvl to go

In arenas, the winning depends on gears, strategies, skills, partners, and experience. A good shadow priest can have 2200+ ratings in all 3 arena category.
My shadow priest has basic PVP gears – 302 resilience and 707 shadow dmg. The shadow word: death (SW: D) crit about 1200 to 2500 dmg on my shadow priest. When I see an enemy has 10% HP left on BGs, I cast SW: D. It is your best friend on BGs.
I found it ridiculously funny when some immature kids yelled at me saying that I stole their KBs when using SW: D. LOL! If you don’t kill them instantly, paladins bubble up, hunters fake death, warriors fear, rogues vanish, druids run away, healers heal up…
