View Full Version : Spawning a quest mob more than once?

I'm doing the quest thread in Duskwood that spawns Stitches, a level 35 elite. Stitches is spawned by a particular action in that thread, and that is the only action that spawns him. It occurred to me today to wonder what would happen if someone else following the same thread were to perform that specific action right after someone else had spawned him? Would we simply have two Stitches, or would something else happen?
(Yes, I'm still fairly new to WoW. I'm still at that stage where I'm getting weird WoW dreams, and even some WoW nightmares.)

i really do not know. i dont think so, since the npc will probably not talk to anyone until the quest is done. there's another one in theremore where you get to fight some sea monster. im pretty sure its just one at a time.

Well, this is rather peculiar. According to the thottbot entry, he's supposed to spawn right after you turn in the quest. (Confirmed by people in groups who've checked.) However, I turned in the quest over an hour ago, and still no Stitches.
Which, I suppose, leaves two possibilities: a) since he had already been spawned a few hours ago, there's a timer preventing him from being spawned again too soon, or b) a high level person happened to nail him before he got anywhere. Hmm... :ponder:

yea happened to me. didnt care too much. i just left and went on with my WoW life.
i never like darkshire anyway. such a dreary place. rather be in feralas, hinterlands, or azhara.

There can only be one stitches up at a time.
Which is a good thing too, especially if he's still elite. He hit like a mac truck.

There can be only one... etc etc.
I can't deny that I am tempted to pop down there next time my shammy is specced enhancement, and see if I can't get a little payback, just for fun. The spawning of Stitches was always a brilliant touch to a suitably twisty quest line- classic stuff.

I do like how they're warning you all along the way though... "This stuff is strong enough to raise the dead!"-type of stuff.

I also love the yelling of the NPCs when Stitches is inbound. It's all a bit Hammer House of Horror..

I've summoned him before... I think once you get the letter from the embalmer you read it near the grave (behind the shack in the GY). Stiches shows up as "yellow" for about a minute until he runs down to the road thus he then turns to a "red" mob and yes hits hard and dazes you if you run. Not fun to fight even as an epic'd lvl 33-40.

Only one stitches at one time, and if he's killed, there is a respawn timer on him too.
