Ok, iam having to download 1.12.0..... does that patch have all the previous ones and is that the only one i will have to download?

yes it has all the previous changes in it, there maybe some smaller patched after it how ever if you are installing the expansion you can expect a lot more updates.

Uhm, that was the last patch before TBC was introduced, to play on the official servers you'd need to be compliant with the current material, including TBC.
The master patch you want is called: V.2.3.0
After that you'll need to dl some minor hotfixes etc, so you end up with version of v.2.3.3.7799, which is the current build.
Or, you can wait for 2.4 to go live and just dl the v.2.4.0 master patch. Could be a long wait though

Why bother explaining? I'm pretty sure i have a good idea what he's using patch 1.12.0 for...

Hence me mentioning that if he wanted to play on the official servers etc etc.
Some folks are new to MMOs and expansions and don't know how all of this works. You have to work under the presumption that someone is clueless and simply provide as much info as is possible. If, they know it, then they can skip parts, if they don't know it. Well.. Now they do..
And knowing is half the battle. :grin:
