Just post the best game that you can get, legit, for free on the 'Net.
My vote easily goes to Star Control 2.
Can be downloaded at http://sc2.sourceforge.net/
You can download full voice for the game, good arcade combat action, AWESOME story. Was the first game I played hookey for from school.
Post your fav and spread the love!

I am going to stick to Project Entropia. A free MMO based off the Cryo engine. Constantly being updated, etc. It requires a bit of research to be good at it - it's oriented more at players who have at least a partial interest in the mechanics and so forth and are able to manage their funds. And it's scifi. Pretty good combination!

I used to play a little game called Chart Wars many years ago when it was fairly new. Now it has been around for a while and developed further (of course).
It's basically a strategy game where you try to build up your record label, signing up new talent and developing it and organising gigs.
The developers also have some other games now.

I've written before about this 2D Diablo based MMORPG that I played for about 2 years. It was free, then pay to play, and now it's free again I beleive.

I have many favorites for many purposes/occasions
Runescape was the perfect MMO to get me started with, tons of scamming so I could learn and it was easy to learn, Skill system is also good too
Conquer Online Is when i just want to see a whole bunch of monster die at once. Typical asian grind
Silkroad online Its a good game and I would play it much more if there wasnt the amount of botters that there are. good triangular conflict system thats surprisingly fun
KartRider when I just want to have fun and I am severly board. Plays much like mariokart. its hard to connect but when you do D/C's are very rare
But these pale in comparison to World of warcraft so i rarely play them with raiding and pvp taking up most of my time.

Travian is a bit fun.
It's slow going at first, but can become very time consuming once you get your Pop up, and have a few villages
