And why?

For 6 years now, after my last (crappy) speakset died I've used headsets. Good, quite expensive headsets. Now it was time to get the most of my 30+GB of MP3's, most of it high quality ripped straight from cd's. I've done nothing but listen to music for half an hour and BOY does it sound awesome!! :sunny:
So what have you bought for yourself just because you deserved it for being awesome?

..though I can't find the protective grille that fits over the reactor exhaust port, I must phone the dealer, see if they can freight one over. The garbage compactor is making a funny noise too, need to check the warranty terms.

I haven't spoiled myself recently with nice stuff since i am a bit short on funds :(
Planning on buying a turntable, probably Technics. My cd-player is giving up on me and being a bit of an audio freak i love the warmer sound of Lp's.
This would be awesome to have:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/9a/Technics_SL-1200MK2.jpg
After that i might even get silly and buy a mixing panel, Spending money because of inherent awesomeness is fun^^
@ Moopy: You might have some "rebels" in your garbage compactor. I hear they love that spot, good luck getting a new one with warranty.

What's the maximum watt on that thing!?
@Miximan: Or you can get low quality MP3's, sounds the same to me  If you ever get around to mixing do share with us
@MrBCorp: Most of it sounds cool, but what are "relo's" ? Anything called relo would me think about twice about staying with it :p

I have a lot of Mp3's on my PC, thing is i got to that level where i believe i actually can hear the difference between cd's, mp3's and LP's. I spent a crap load of money on my Amplifier and my Speakers, so i think my next step will be a turntable and some high quality Lp's. Good recording/pressing/version/orchastra or band playing it etc.
Money flying out of my bank account but worth it :)
But i can't wait to get that stuff.:sunny:

Pushes 47 terawatts when running full tilt in surround. Best not to play drum and bass late at night, or neighbouring systems complain.

No More Heroes on the Wii is my mindless "pick up and play" game of choice ATM. Revisiting favorite boss fights is just instant gratification. The game is both hilarious and spectacular.

I've considered grabbing that game, I've heard good things about it. I wish less companies would make the quick-cash-in craptastic minigame collections, and more quality games. De Blob looks like it will rock, and as I said, No More Heroes definitely looks like something I want to grab when I can.

Hello. I have a lap-top having intel core duo 2,4 ghz w 2gb ram and geforce fx 5200 gs 512 mb video card, however, the performance is terrible especially on fifa 08. I need to play the game in the lowest resolution. Is there a way to make the performance perfect? Some people have said that this is because the processors of the lap-tops are small.
jschild
15-05-2008, 11:51 PM
It has nothing to do with the processor. It is fine. It is your geforce card that you cannot probably easily replace (if at all) that is the limiting issue.
A Geforce 5200 is an ancient video card (its the base version of a card that is now 4 generations old).

Would you mind advicing a good video card fitting to my lap top I may replace with geforce 5200?

First, understand that 99% of laptops, you can't change the video card, ever. So second, you might want to see if you can even do that. Then third, maybe, I dunno, look for a GeForce card that isn't.... 4 generations old. The generation number is the first number.... 5000 range is 5th generation. So look for, I dunno, something in the 8000 - 9000 range? Bearing in mind, once again, that with a laptop, it is unlikely you'll be able to do anything about it.

I bought a plane ticket to Hawai'i for a week from Sunday, and a week from Tuesday I get to jump onto the USS Nimitz (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Nimitz_(CVN-68)) and take a trip from Hawai'i to San Diego, CA for 5 days. 'tis the advantage of having a little brother in the Navy and stationed on it. It will be my first time being immersed in a military situation and be a civilian.
How exciting. Maybe you'll get a couple Ruskies buzz it again while you're aboard. Something to tell the grandkids.

hehe. Well, definitely looking forward to it. Of course, it will be strange being an Army vet on a Navy ship. But then again, my brothers and I never could decide on which branch of the military to join. I went Army, the next oldest one went Air Force (and lives in Japan now), and the youngest went into the Navy.
