I've been hit by a slightly odd technical problem over the past 2/3 days.

I purchased a LAN Adaptor for the Nintendo Wii so it could go online through my pc and the Internet Connection Sharing service.

Took abit of messing about with assigning an IP Address and that kinda thing but it works.

But, at random intervals the "svchost" service will crash on my pc.
The crash didn't seem to affect anything at first. But then I launched iTunes to update a Podcast and iTunes told me it couldn't find a Mixer Device.

A Google search found info and it seems that when svchost crashed it also closed the Windows Audio service. Bit odd that.
Easy to fix but still rather odd.

I'm pretty sure the WiiConnect24 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WiiConnect24) feature on the Wii is causing the problem.
I either disable that (and hope) and reconfigure the Wii everytime I want to go online. Or figure out another solution.

Anyone got any idea's?

I've glanced over this article: http://blog.ncircle.com/archives/2006/10/microsoft_ics_dos_faq.html
Does the 1+2 at the bottom recommend both or to choose one of the options?

I think blocking UDP port 53 (DNS) will cause more harm than good because of my ISP being... lame.

So.... if anyone has any idea's or suggestions or handy links for me whilst I continue my hunt... please post em.

Thanks.

A lot of hassle for something easily fixable with a proper router or switch if you have a broadband connection. The Wii works well with wireless routers.

I have no idea how Wii would react to windows, I guess the results aren't good.
