Character Transfer between Accounts Question

Hi all! My situation is this: A friend of a friend recently stopped playing WoW. He gave her his account and said that she could play any person on his account. Ironically enough, she was thinking about stopping WoW herself, or at least cutting back. Since this account has a lvl 70 in the class I play, she chose to give me this account.

Now here's my predicament. I would like to transfer this lvl 70 character over to my account. I read that you can only transfer between two accounts with the same last name, and you need to answer a secret question from both accounts. It also seems to be impossible to change the name of the account to mine.

My question is, is there any way I could transfer this lvl 70 character to my account? I really don't want to pay double for both accounts each month just so I could have all of my characters. If it's not possible, then would anybody know what the point of this type of character transfer is?

Nope, the accounts need to have the same last name on them in order to transfer between them.

Only way really to get the last name changed is if you legally get your name changed or through marriage, but Blizz makes your provide proof of it.

Also, not that it matter since you won't be able to do it...but you ONLY need the Secret Question/Answer for the account that the characters are getting transfered TO...so don't need the originals.

Wait (sorry this is going to be a question in your question lol) if my brohters account has a character I want to transfer and I have his last name example
brother= joe lopez
and i'm dan lopez I can have a character transfer?

I dont think they were talking about "character" last names. Sounds like they are talking about the name on your paid account. Your real names. =)

The point of the service, is to cater to family. Like a minor, who's been playing on the account of the parent (as is allowed in the ToS) and who has reached the age of legal majority and is therefore no longer allowed to play on said account.

The service subsequently allows the "kid" to retain the character he or she has prior on the parents account by transferring it to their new account, with the permission of the registered account user.

The whole husband/wife infect the other with WoW-fever thing also falls into this category essentially.
