On my server, tauren are mostly warriors, so someone trying to trap with entangling roots, or whatever gets an unpleasant surprise when he/she shapeshifts and breaks the trap. By this time the attacker gets fairy fired and is an easy kill in battlegrounds, because the attacker is confused for a few seconds, and usually spams a ranged attack that does little damage as the tauren cat spams his/her melee attack.

Also, tauren have more strength than nelf druids, so a tauren druid will almost always defeat a nelf druid. My main is a nelf druid, and at 49 was killed quickly by a 42 tauren druid.

Actually, not so true. they have more strength, ne's have more agi. Both aren't a very good difference. taurnens get warstomp, ne's get higher stealth. In the end, they equal out. Except stat and racial wise Ne's make better moonkin/resto. Guess it's not too fair.

if your the only race on horde that can be a class, its going to be popular. kinda like saying why belf pallys are popular....

Druids can tank, heal and dps. They are the most versatile clss. If you are a druid, it is much easier to get into a raid or Instance than as ... say... a rogue.

And on Horde side only Tauren can be Druids. Males seem more popular than females, must be the look....

the startign racial of str or agion a druid means very little as you gear up you will overcome the intial boost you get. the only starting racials that really work well is the human of 10% spirit bonus

the 10% of Sta bonus for Tauren is actually quite handy... it can mean the difference between winning and wiping in some cases.

Right....but that 5% can mean the difference between life or death, and in a raiding context can mean the difference between a wipe or victory. Heck, just a few days ago on RoS I survived a Focus with 100 HP remaining.

Warstomp has also helped me in tanking more times that I can count. I use it all the time when my thunderclap or taunt are on cooldown to give me a few extra seconds. Overall, the Tauren racials make them one of the best tanking races in the game, by far.

I forgot it was nerfed. Used to be 10%. Been a while since I was fiddling around with my druid.

I remember hearing somewhere (I think it's on TBC Collectors Edition DVD, during one of the panels) that during development of WoW, one of the dev's was insistent that Druids be restricted to NightElf Males only.

Shows how far the game has come.

To be honest if your 49 is getting easily beaten by a 42 of the same class a little difference in the starting stats isn't the problem...

To an extent. There is a finite number of tanks needed per boss. Boomkins are one of the least popular ranged DPS types in the game, and feral DPS is feeble, compared to rogues. Resto druids are also probably the least popular healer for really high-end raiding, too- so spots for those are restricted also. It gives you options though, sure. If you have the gear for it, you can always spec for what your guild needs most at that time.
