My suggestion - Give guilds more options to spend their Guild bank gold on:
So far you can by a tabard and the GB slots. And thats it...
What about a Guild house - a building in each capital that can be bought and offers a number of facilities such as:
guild bank - duh
Tabard veiwer - Simple gizmo to show the tabard
Notice board - Messages & calender of events
Roster - Wow armoury info on all members
Trophy stand - A place to record the guild acheivements
Members lockers - Contains a set of raid gear (that you deposit) which can be equipped with a single click.
etc etc
All these functions can be bought and added to the guild house or won through chain quests.
Each capital only needs one house as it could be 'instanced' for each independant guild - but bigger and better ones could be available for more G.
what ya think? Or have i just voiced a really crap idea?:undecided:

Nope, you've just brought up an old trope. Player and guild housing was promised ages ago, but never came to anything. There are even player house models in the data files. Lots of people would love this, but blizz never quite managed to find the time to add it :-)

Ahh - crapola
I think they should add this - or at least something that a GM can spend Gold on to better the guild.
Guilds are far to samey - its hard to entice nice players with 'Guild <Guild name> is recruiting - we have bugger all different to any other guild but join us anyway.....'
I know the players make the guild - but the potential recruit doesn't know that :)

It would be nice. However, guilds do differ a lot- PvP guilds, casual guilds, hardcore raiding guilds, all that nonsense. Personally, I have never really worried about what the guild tabard looked like (and wouldn't worry about how cool the guild "crib" was)- more whether they were doing the sort of stuff that I wanted to do..
You're right though, it would be fun.

Bear, I may be wrong but if you link the guild tabard in a chat channel I believe people can click the link to see what it looks like.
That said, ive known people refuse to join a guild after seeing the tabard...whats that all about? You can easily take the silly apron thingy off as I do when im out and about. I only put it back on when heading to a city as an old GM of mine /gkick me after seeing me not wearing it ;)

I believe you would see your own guild's tabard if you CTRL-clicked the link, but I could be wrong.
As for tabards, I tend to wear them when they look less hideous than the armour underneath. The only exception was a guild tabard that was bright pink with a big heart on it- that one stayed on all the time, as it was pure Win.
My shammy keeps a tabard handy for those times when I want to remove all armour with durability value. However, current armour looks good enough to not need covering up :)

On a side note, my guild never recruits with "we have a bank and a tabard". We don't want members who'd only join because of that. As you said so yourself, the players make the guild. We have put a very nice recruiting message together, and we basically attract the right kind of people with it. Our size, our tabard and two bank tabs aren't even mentioned in that message.
And yes, if you CTRL-click a tabard linked in chat, you see the tabard of your own guild. Or in case you are not in a guild, the generic grey one. You don't see the tabard of the guild of the person who links it.

Snow,
If the best things you can think of to include in a recruitment message are about your bank and tabard, it says something about your guild and its expectations. Something bad :)

This is all true - and I dont actually include about the bank and tabard in the recruitment msg. I was really just pointing out that there was very little difference in guilds per say - I would love to see a load of options to allow you to customise your guild... Like you'd customise your character...

Oh dearest bear, excuse me, pet hate, but it's "per se" :-)

Some customization is fine...I'd like Blizz to concentrate on expanding the instances and such, however.

Well, your wish in granted, as they stopped development of player housing and the like to work on actual playable content :-)
(This doesn't mean that it won't come in future, if they feel the game will suffer against future rivals by not having it).
Still, it would be fun, but obviously not at the expense of the main game.

yeah - my error :embarassed:
On the flip side moops, it's Blizzard not Blizz and shaman not Shammy :azn:
