Well, in general it's a big nono. And in theory yes, you CAN get banned for those 5 minutes. You can also banned for the abusive talk your friend did.
The reality is that chances are slim you'll have been reported for the profanity. Chances are slimmer that someone will take action against you for it. Even slimmer are the chances that it'd be a full-on ban (byebye to your account) from the first offense. Maybe a temporary time-out so to speak.
The fact that it was from your own computer makes the sharing part a bit hard to prove and nearly impossible to trace. Blizz can't tell who's actually behind the keyboard.
Off course, if you'd have let this go on a lot further all those "slim chances" can add up.
Me myself, I very occasionally play my wife's hunter when she gets dragged down by a certain levelband (45-55 was a real drag for her) or when she wanted Bloodseeker (a crossbow from an AV-quest) and didn't have the stomach to pull through the pain of doing AV in the L51-60 level range.
I play my own account from 3 alternating pcs (my own at home, my wife's at home and my company-laptop around lunchtime). Nothing has ever come from this.
So yeah, it might happen, but if you keep it in check odds are very slim you'll actually run into trouble.

Hold on, you aren't allowed to use someone elses account?! Why not?! I have an alt on my gfs account for starters!

I'm confused. We have three computers in our house- all with wow and BC installed on them. My boyfriend and I each have our own account. Therefore, we use all three computers to play these two separate accounts on. Is this enough to warrant a ban?
As for the OP- if you get bad for the foul language your friend used on your account, Blizzard could still ban you. You gave him permission to use your account, therefore any actions which he preforms is your responsibility. That sucks, but it sounds like this is a single instance and hopefully won't result in either a temp, or permanent ban. With all that said, my suggestion to you is to punch your friend in the arm and say, "No mo WoW fo you!!!"

No, using different accounts on the same computers is OK in Blizz' books. Two people using the same account, unless it is a parent & underage child, that is a no-no.

Thanks Xlorep.
I was trying to understand how that could be ban worthy- thanks for clearing it up!

My rl friend regularly logged on with my account for years and we never had a problem. But then again, he never went around swearing at people. Although my game-friend would regularly tell me the "other" me was logged on the other day...

haha....I still haven't figured out if you are a clever troll, or just like to play on the freeway.....heh
Only blizz knows if they will ban you. Everyone here can guess, but the final answer comes only from Blizz.

What you describe is not account sharing.....Its computer sharing.
Playing your own account on ten different comps, and having someone else play their account at times you aren't using those ten comps is still fine.
It is you playing the BF's account or he playing yours that is account sharing.
