View Full Version : Democrat or Republican?

Thats how I feel when choosing between WoW and AoC. World of Warcraft is Democratic and Age of Conan, Republican. At least thats how I see it. So lets cut to the choice shall we? I am able to buy WoW this week but I'm tempted to wait for AoC instead. I've played WoW before and its very fun. But I think the graphics are better in AoC. WoW is a bit more cartoon-like. AoC is rated mature as if contains blood & gore, nudity, and sexual themes. As well as it allows you to fight while mounted. I saw one of the videos and your able to behead other players and such. However I have friends in WoW and I would like to be able to play with them. I also like WoW's holiday events, especially Brewfest. I've also noticed that WoW's combat system is faster than AoC.
So I see myself at stand still. Yes I know that I'm supposed to make decisions on my own but thats almost impossible for me as I change my mind alot like my parents do.

Who are they?
Just remember that unlike an election, no decisions are final. You could... hold on to your seat... play both!

I've seen the AoC videos... I dont get off on 'ohh blood spurting from my enemy's head' so it left me cold...
I am not playing AoC because I am addicted to WoW ^^
Oh wait..that sounds like "I vote republican because my daddy does"

How great would that be though? To be able to decapitate some gold sellers and beggars.

Whats the socialist choice? Green party? Communists? Is there a write in vote?

You are seriously coming to a WOW forum asking whether it should be WOW or AoC?
Perhaps there are other more basic questions that need exploring...heh

I would go with World of Warcraft. Since its Blizzard, it will most likely be played the most because of the past games. The graphics on WoW are not that bad. This game has a lot of things in game and a lot of people in one area. So if the graphics were way better you would probably need a very good graphics card. Age of Conan looks great too, but I will buy that for the XBOX 360. I mean, we won't know how Age of Conan will be because it didn't come out yet. Videos don't prove anything about a game until you play it. I have seen many videos, but when the game came out it was total crap.

Simple answer, WoW.
Longer answer - Do not throw away your money buying AoC the second it comes out. Wait for several reviews have came out from reputable sources before picking it up. Don't want to pay for trash like Vanguard. If AoC gets really good reviews, go for it.
As for graphics...I'll play X-Com any day over some photorealistic crapfest any day of the week. Graphics are pretty but they are not fun. If the gameplay sucks, no amount of graphics will make it better. I will, however, forgive a very good game for having crappy graphics.

Well maybe I want to hear both sides. I've already asked the same question on an AoC forum. Ever think I may have done that? I was probably was one sided when I chose which one represented political stances. When it comes to ratings, WoW would be Republican and AoC would be Democrat. Oh and GW would be the communist party, with SWG perhaps the green party. But anyway for those of you that answered my question properly, I will consider buying WoW and wait for the reviews on AoC or later buy it on my 360.

Actually more people identify themselves as democrats overall than repubilcans, but thats nit picking.
Waiting is the right thing to do. I would however recommend getting WoW sooner than later however. The reason being is that by the end of this year, almost certainly, WotLK will be coming out. If you want to enjoy any of its content soon (unless they add new races) you will want to be at least close to 70 by its release date. If no new races are released, it will be very lonely indeed leveling to 80.

There will be no new races... Blizzard has said this numerous times

I can't pay by credit card or pay pal but I understand I can buy a pre-paid card for WoW that lasts up to 2 months. When I first get WoW can I use that to pay my fee? Well actually when I get WoW do I pay to play right away or do I wait for a month?

You get a free month included with the game.
You can also buy the cards from Wal-Mart and the ilk. They are good for 2 months and you do not require a credit card, afaik. I could be wrong on that though.
You will be able to play right away however.

I'm pretty sure your right on the cards. Just to be clear though, after the 2 months are over, I can buy another card and continue paying that way right?

Yes, and lets say you forgot to buy them and have to wait 2 weeks to get new cards.
Guess what, your account is perfectly safe and all your characters will be there.
I just hopped back to CoH after almost a year and a half and all my characters were still waiting for me. So don't sweat that.

Why would I have to wait 2 weeks?
Edit: Sending to other forum.

I was just making an example. For that, you might want to make a post in the WoW tech forum as Kalos and others can help you much more with the laptop, but honestly, your best performance would come from a desktop and not a laptop.

I already have a desktop computer and its crap. But I'll ask there.

The socialist choice is FFXI.
Sorry :-( I shouldn't have said that :-(
That game is just.... Bad. Bad bad.
Edit: On the topic of game cards, you don't need a credit card to use them, and if the time expires nothing happens to your account for at least 5 or 6 months. I went back to WoW after a several month break, without paying for the account, and all I had to do was go buy another game card. No problemo.
On a side note, it makes me very happy that WoW is so user friendly in that respect. Imagine if the charged you to hold on to your account while there was non-payment. I'm very glad this is not the case :-D

I've never played a single FF game before. So I wouldn't know but you could be right there. Well thats good about the game cards.

I tend to be very middle-of-the-road and more of a "constitutionalist" than subscribing in whole or in part to the doctrines and credos of either party. I'm more concerned with whatever is on the docket that strengthens or weakens the constitution.
I fail to see how politics relate to WoW vs AoC...

I would explain but it would probably cause a flame war. So I'd rather not.
