The advice from the board so far is that a Hunter should look for + Agility first then + Intel on armor.
I have a few questions since I'm in Outlands now.
1) Should I sacrifice Agility for for Attack Power. I got this piece of headgear with +74 attack power but I will have to sacrifice about 10 Agility if I use it. Should I?
2) I'm getting quite a few armor pieces with Agility + Stamina. The Agility bonuses are a point or 3 lower than the pieces I already have but the Stamina is usually a big bonus. Since I'm a hunter, I don't get into alot of hand to hand. Is Stamina + a waste?

1. yes use it. +74 attack is way more beneficial than what 10 agility can give you.
2. less agility is ok if you're given a lot of stamina. honestly, you'll need it. plus the equip will usually have added attack power, which is a third bonus to the piece. in any case, a dead hunter does zero damage. a hunter with barely enough life will still be doing damage. take that into consideration. make sure you get the stuffs that offer you attack power bonuses too. that is usually the deciding factor for me.

Look for gear like this:
+ xx agi
+ xx stam
+ xx int
equip: add XX attack power
If your not sure just equip any new pc you get (unless your really hard up for gold and think you can AH it for more) and check ALL your stats, incuding HP & Mana pool.
This includes weapons now that your in OL's.
EDIT: also don't be afraid to wear leather pcs if the stats are better - armor value IMO is the least of your concern. That's why I didn't even list it.

I was told to keep this order for a Hunter: agility - attack power - intellect - mp5 - stamina. Of course, this doesn't mean that you should always put something like agility first - like elsegundo said, 74 ap is far better than 10 agi. So this means that something with only agi + sta isn't really your thing, unless you just can't find any better.

For a BM Hunter I believe that 1 AGI is roughly equal to 1 AP. This ratio will probably change for different specs (esp Surv).

1 AGI = 1 ranged AP , pretty sure this is regardless of spec.
Yes Mp5 is important but you won't see too much of that when you 1st hit OL.
You will also want to start looking for +hit gear and for PvP +Res gear.
But at 1st the +agi +stam +int w/a +AP bonus on equip will be good gear for you.

Actually, the better formula (known as Hunter Agility Points (http://wowwiki.com/HAP) or HAP) is:
1 Agility = 1.5 Stamina = 1 Intellect = 1 Critical rating = 1 Hit rating = 1 Ranged skill rating = 2.5 RAP = 2 AP = 0.125 Sockets = 0.417 Mp/5
The reason 1 Agility is not worth just 1 AP in that equation is because Agility does more than just add AP, it also adds to crit and hit.
Something to note is:
For a beastmaster, a higher critical chance and attack power also buffs your pet by a larger amount.
For a marksman, intellect gives you a bonus to attack power and should be given a higher value.
For a survivalist, agility is worth extra due to the expose weakness talent.
So the equation could change based on your particular talent spec. But basically, it is a good starting point.

yes a mm hunter gets attack power bonus from int but i would never go for an int piece of gear over an attack power item.
as i lvld up i was looking for agi, agi and a tiny bit more agi. then at 66+ i started to focus on attack power being mm spec this is my best friend and i have over 2200 attack power in a mix of blues and epics
for class specific items in the higher lvl range i would look for
BM a good mix of stam agi and attack power. your pet gains stam from your stam lvl and you need your pet alive and able to hold agro.
mm attack power then agi. you are the killer not your pet so you need to get big hits in as much as poss tokill a mob before it kills your pet
surv agi and more agi. the expose weakness is your best tallent (imo) and the more agi the better the buff to your attack power and your raids attack power
