Is it just the server im on, or is barrens chat just a lot of people bickering?

It is just the server that you are on. On all other servers it is a lot of people being random idiots.

The Barrens is like the weird kid at the back of the class who eats glue and that everybody wishes would just go away. It's the same on all servers, not just yours.

That's pretty much wide-spread. There's a J!NX shirt which has the phrase "I survived Barrens Chat" for a reason...

lol i didnt realize there is an alliance equiv in Goldshire. it was pretty sane in goldshire when i spent my days about 6 months ago.

but the barrens is where most of the horde go to. i ran through silverpine and saw very few people. i'll need to take the trip to ghostlands and see whats up there.

i do enjoy the wide open space in the barrens. it reminds me a little of California, where the grass is brown most of the year, and trees are sparse with some nice spots for shade. cant wait to leave it.

Goldshire @ Steamwheedle cartel is where every noobish/idiot rp'er on the server hangs. Either you use it as a stepping stone to get better, or you acknowledge that you suck, and stay put.

I never really played horde long enough to have any real experiences with the barrens chat, but for the love of god, don't start the [Dirge] virus again!

Barrens = Goldshire, in terms of the quality of the repartee and general idiocy of the individuals who aren't just trying to level through that zone as fast as humanly possible.

Just remember: almost NOTHING happens in General in these zones that's worth listening to. Do yourself a favor and turn it off or port it to a hidden window while you're there.

If people in a zone have annoyed you, just before you leave say, "Well at least this zone hasn't descended into Barrens Chat yet!" Within 1 min 12 years seem to materialise out of thin air! At least 1 person will type the words Chuck and Norris before you zone.

Did it in a zone once and zoned as soon as they started on Chuck. I flew over easily 20 minutes later and there were people screaming in General to stfu about Chuck Norris.

Interesting fact:

The barrens chat was not named after the zone - it was named what is between the ears of the average general chat poster. i.e - Sweet eff all :)

Oh yeah, Dirge. One of you couldn't quickly explain that to me could you? I played a Dirge in EQ2 so it was bloody confusing for the first few weeks here - thought I'd missed a class while making my first character :D
