I have heard mention of Children's Week or something and I have never seen anything about it. I am at work and cant look it up cause of dumb firewall. Could someone just tell me what this about and when it takes place?

Also, I missed allow the events like the Halloween one. Could someone tell me what the next event/festival in game is?

Is this why i'm seeing lots of Orc orphans as peoples companions in game?

Children's Week (http://www.worldofwar.net/wiki/Childrens_Week)

Essentially you adopt an orphan for a few days and take them round to famous sites (these differ depending on level and allegiance) and in return you get reputation awards and (for completing the chain) a choice of vanity pet.

There is two different quest series now: one for Azeroth, and one for Outland. Both have a different selection of vanity pets, and one character can do both each year.

Hmmm might have a look at this later. Nice to have a change now and then, and do something like this.

Is this happening now?

It runs from 1 May till 8 May.

I SO want Peanut for my Dwarf Rogue.. she's got an Elekk mount, and imagine how cute it'd be if she had an Elekk pet to match. ^^

Aww no, she was sweet! I also kind of wish I could've kept her.. instead I've got an ADHD bird with eyes that nearly pop out of his head. Which is also very cute.

Here is my Draenei orphan, as you can see she is taller than my gnome! I thought the Draenei orphans were the cutest and I would have loved to have kept her. The blood elfs have weird noses and the humans were just ick. I couldn't stand to look at the human and I kept him packed away until necessary.

Did all the quests and got:

Gnome Mage 65: Peanut the Elekk and Speedy the turtle. Now that I have Peanut I guess I better finish getting exalted with Exodar so I can be a gnome on an Elekk with a mini Elekk running behind me. Peanut is nearly as tall as the gnome.

Dwarf Hunter 16: Whiskers the Rat. This is one of the best pets I've ever had and suits the geeky hunter completely. It's very realistic (unlike some of the others) and has great ratty movements, plus its surprise death periodically.

Blood Elf Warlock 23: Mr Wiggles the Pig.

I also bought extra ice creams and gave them away in Darn, lol

Those orpahans can sure run.

Oh yeah..they can't keep up with the epic windrider, but on my mage (60% flyer), I flew from Zangar to Nagrand over the hills and she climbed them in a speed that would have put Sir Edmund Hillary and Reinhold Messner to shame.

3 lv 70s and 4 in the 60s....that is a lot of quests. 1700 rep for LC and something like 80k XP or 40 - ish gold also

I remember the first Orphan day, way back when we still did MC and I took my Orphan to see Ragnaros ^^

It's become a bit of a trend now to get out your pet in the BG, to make it more difficult for the enemy to tab-target you.. some people who haven't finished the quest yet take out their Orphan, which is a hilarious sight although very politically incorrect.

I ran my orphan through the Bone Wastes while finishing some quests.. poor thing.. scarred for life.

I took my human orphan into Warsong Gulch a few times. That boy learned a thing or two about life, I can tell you.

My blood elf orphan took a field trip to Karazhan for my Saturday badge run. She wasn't the only orphan there.

Finished up the lowercity one last night. To bad I am not going to have enough time the next couple days to complete the old world one!

I appreciate your help on this but what about the festivals? Is there something called mid summers night something coming up?

TPMdm

Yeah, there's an ig festival which climaxes near the US Independence day IIRC. I never participated in the main quests becuase they require you to go to some old world instances and opposing faction capital cities.

The Festival of Flame? (or something like that)

I read that they are adding an instance to the next festival similar to the halloween event. I missed that one so I am looking forward to chance to jump in to some of these new ones.

I ate too many sweets and was sick on Thrall, got a screenshot somewhere of me spewing on him. lol

That bird is insane!! It runs all over the place like a lunatic.

When I was running Kara, and it was kinda late, I kept only seeing the blue text and A: Not reading what it said and B: Not seeing what it was over and was afraid that when my chicken was running around he was gonna aggro something on my group because he kept running real close to some mobs.

It is good to remember that mini-pets don't aggro anything.

The Festival of Flame? (or something like that)

Midsummer Fire Festival. I just looked it up. The lower level quests just require you to "steal flame" from some outpost type areas. Then there are the "stealing the city's flames" which require you to go to opposing faction cities. Lastly there is the "a light in a dark place" quest which is the old world instances.

Is there a link with the whole years calendar of special events? I tend to just stumble upon them. I only found children's week because I looked up that cute draenei orphan.

not too sure. but warcraftpets have a list of events in which you can get pets. but for events that does not have pets as a reward, they probably wont have it listed.

Thank you!

I have done:

Winter Veil--lots of fun, wonderful gifts. Mini-me's, Snowmen..

Darkmoon Faire--thought it was a waste of time. Nothing really worth all the effort. However there are some great opportunities at the vendors if you are patient, things like ghost mushrooms iirc for a pittance. Have been to this in Elwyn Forest where it was very lively and fun. Have also been to it in the Barrens where there was NO ONE. EVER. Kind of missed the boat there.

Lunar Festival--I enjoyed seeing the elders in their pillars of light wherever I went but there was nothing very interesting to be had from the coins.

Children's Week--loved it. Pets, how fabulous is that?

My memory is crap and I cant remember where I read it (I know it was on this forum somewhere) by they are revamping a lot of these festivals because of the success of the halloween event and the special instance. I am looking forward to these a lot more.
