This could all change by some Lore Bending Retconn, But till then, this is how it should be.

Humans- (Yes) Because the Scorge Death Knights are made mostly of Human Paladins. Immune to the Plague so they can remain their former race even as a Death Knight.

Dwarfs- (Yes) Because this race is also a Paladin race of Azeroth, and are corrupted into Death Knights of the Scorge. Immune to the Plague so they can remain their former race even as a Death Knight.

Blood Elfs- (Yes) since they can also be Paladin, and have been in conflict with the Undead. Immune to the Plague so they can remain their former race even as a Death Knight.

Forsaken- (Yes) because the Lich King does use Undead in his work of Death Knights.

Draenei- (No) never in conflict with the Scorge. and they Change upon contact with Shadow magic.

Orc- (No) the Legion Death Knights, were Dead orcs inside a Crystal, that controls the Body of Dead Humans. still that has nothing to do with Scorge Death Knights.

Tauran- (No) again they have nothing to do with the Scorge, and even if they did, they would be turned into a Undead. and there is a name for Undead that break free of the Lich King Control, they are called Forsaken.

Night Elfs- (No) again have no connection with the Scorge. and with the World Tree damaged, they no longer Immortal. which means they can be effected by the Plague. and there is a name for Undead that break free of the Lich King Control, they are called Forsaken.

Trolls- (No) because they are turned into Undead upon connection with the Lich King. and there is a name for Undead that break free of the Lich King Control, they are called Forsaken.

Gnomes- (No) they don't Believe in Religion, and the Only people that were allowed to remain their former race, were the People that worship the Cult of the Damned. and with no Priest or paladin class, they couldn't be Immune to the Plague of Death, so they would be turned into Undead. and there is a name for Undead that break free of the Lich King Control, they are called Forsaken.

Look boys & girls, it's time for Wartro's compulsory "Death Knights should be restricted by race" post. He found a new forum to put it in this time. And... he seems, yet again, to completely ignore any previous counter-arguments... since after all, they just get in the way of a good rant.

My question is.... point out anything that Blizzard has ever explained, referenced, or even implied that the Lich King really gives a damn about the mortal race that his servants belonged to in life, when he brings them into being part of the Scourge? How much, honestly, does it matter what your race in life was, once you are part of the Scouge? And then... how do you even *know* what starting race some of the Scourge were? Like the Abominations... what race were they? Are you 100% certain?

At times, Lore must take a back seat to Game Mechanics, and as a result, the Lore WILL be retconned, bent, or just thrown out the window for Game Mechanics. A prime example of this is Undead and speaking common. For the sake and the sanity of the GMs, the ability for Undead to speak common was scrapped entirely back in the betas. Lore-wise, this makes absolutely NO sense: The undead were humans in their past life, so why shouldn't they retain that ability to speak common?

But because of the insult wars during betas, the lore (if there even was any behind it) was retconned and Undead given Gutterspeak.

Another example with the Undead is the fact that Undead playable characters are flagged as "Humanoid" as opposed to "Undead". Why? Paladins and priests would have had a field day against them in PvP. Any undead character would be slaughtered by a Priest or a Paladin in an instant.

And as Xlorep said, is the Lich King going to care what race you are? No. You're dead, you're ass is going to get raised to be his mindless servent. He doesn't give a squint of **** if you're a Blood Elf, a Troll, a Draenei, a Human, a Gnome or a Dwarf. All he sees is "Dead thing. Must make more mindless slaves to slaughter creatures."

To cap this all off: THE DEATH KNIGHTS AREN'T UNDEAD!!!!! Was Arthas dead when he killed Uther? Was he a mindless re-animated corpse when he led the Scourge through Quel'Thalas? No! He still had his Humanity. His will just wasn't entirely his own. He was still breathing like you and me. The same applies to Death Knights in WoW. They're still living and breathing and they haven't been reanimated.

As for a race like the Draenei being a Death Knight, that too doesn't matter to the Lich King. When he first went out searching for a suitable host, he wouldn't have given a damn of Arthas was a Gnome, Dwarf, Orc, Human or Night Elf. Arthas met the criteria and thus was manipulated. The same applies to these Death Knights. Arthas/Ner'Zul didn't give a damn what race they are. They were willing to serve him, and that's all that matters.

Gnomes- (No) they don't Believe in Religion

My gnome believes in religion. He's gonna be at your door tomorrow, a bible in one hand, and a smack down in the other.
