hi i have my hunter playing with guns and his skill is up to 135

i decided i like bows more and now i wanna switch, is this gonna be very bad cos like it took a long time for my skill to go up?
the other question is is it worth it? keeping in my mind im doing it for purely cosmetic reasons?

ps: lvl 29 bm specced

take the weapon with the better damage.

keep bow, gun and crossbow skill up at all time. or just level it whenever you switch. take a tanking pet, a low level mob and alot of arrows / bullets. :)

One stack of arrows is 200 and you use up in a few minutes. You only miss hits for the first few mobs. Unlike armed weapons, they take much longer to level.

Ranged weapon skills level fast. Very fast. Don't worry about it. If you like the bow, use the bow.

Level up all ranged skills and use whatever weapon is best.

That said, my Tauren hunter only knows guns. But then again, she's stubborn. :D

Agreeing with everything that was stated above.

Go with whatever you chose you like best/has better stats.
When I played on my hunter, I bought a bank slot and slapped a full ammo container of the type that I was NOT using. IE: If I was using a Bow or an X-Bow, I kept a full bullet bag there. If I was using a Gun, I kept a full quiver there. That way, I could switch between guns and bows/x-bows easier. Just something to keep in mind.

Also, as stated, do your best to keep all three (Bows, Crossbows and Guns) skill levels up decently. You never know when a Kick-ass gun could come up later on.

when i lvl my ranged weapon skill i put pet on target with bite claw and every thing off apart from growl then i use rank 1 stings on a mid ranged mob. it wont take long to get your skill up. just use the low rank shots so you dont waste tons of mana. i also tend to buy the lowest lvl of ammo the weapopn uses grab a stack or 2 and of you go

I'm using a gun for my Dwarf Rogue, just because I think she looks kickass with it (and the +5 to Guns that Dwarves have is a nice added bonus).. some people told me that I'm stupid not to go for Thrown instead, but I don't see the difference. I don't have any talents that require Thrown (yet), so right now a gun is the same as a thrown weapon.

Differences are fairly small:
- stats, most low level guns don't have any, whereas most low level throwing weapons do.
- saves an ammo slot
- helps keep your thrown skill level up, which comes in handy later when you do get skills related to it.

Im a bow man myself - Purely cosmetic, though i do plan on lvling up my xbow and guns to take advantage of juciy weapons when they drop.

Like wise I have skills in most hand weapons so i can benefit from the lovely +agi bonuses that may drop on them... Just train everything :)
