I got my hunter to level 10, in fact he's level 11 now. I learnt how to tame beasts and how to feed them and everything, so... Do I stay sticking around in my hometown for a while yet or do I move on out into the big bad world?

I was hoping to move out because I wanted to tame a Raptor, but I dunno when or how I got about it...

Any help? =]

If you've finished everything in your starting area, move on...

You stay until you run out of quests, and then move on.

As for the lowest lvl raptors... There are raptors in Durotar, the Barrens, Stranglethorn Vale, and Arathi.

Normally you'll get a quest to take you to the next area. Just take and do all the quests you can and you'll move on in a natural progression.

Aha! Well, I guess this is it, but now I'm in some kind of mainland area, instead of some island off the coast, lol. I'm in Auberdine, Darkshore. Where are the nearest raptors from here?

The barrons would be the closest but I think they may still be too high of a level for you. Complete all of the quests in Auberdine and you'll lvl quick. Just tame a cat, bear or wolf for now.

If you are done, move on. Usually you go to the next area after you hit level 10 or 11.

Alliance
Humans go to Westfall
Dwarfs go to Loch Modan
Night Elfs go to Darkshore
Gnomes go to Loch Modan
Draenei go to Bloodmyst Isle

Horde
Orcs go to Barrens
Undead go to Silverpine Forest
Taurens go to Barrens
Trolls go to Barrens
Blood Elfs go to Ghostlands

Your nearest source of Raptors is going to be The Barrens, which is through Ashenvale Forest. The level range of Barrens Raptors is generally between 8 and 15 so you could probably grab one straight away. Do bear in mind however that the Barrens is Horde territory so be very careful travelling to and through it because the guards will ruin your day.

the time to leave an area is when all the quests you have are green to you. always try to do yellow or arange quests for the best amount of xp.

And especially bear in mind that Ashenvale is for a great deal a level 25-30 area.

If you're that set on getting a raptor, then the best way to go to the Barrens is to take the boat from Auberdine to Menethil Harbour in the Wetlands, and from there take the boat to Theramore in Dustwallow Marsh. Once you reach Theramore, swim north - just hug the coastline to avoid the dark water (in which you'll grow fatigued and can cause you to drown) but don't come too close to the nearby mobs.. except for the turtles, they're neutral and won't attack you.

Keep swimming north until you reach the Barrens - there's a small harbour called Ratchet which is neutral to both Horde and Alliance, and even has a few quests for you. From there you can go into the Barrens and tame your Raptor - the lowest level ones will be in the north part of the area (I vaguely recall them being around level 13-14, not entirely sure though). Just make sure you don't come too close to the Crossroads, which is a Horde camp and has guards that will attack you if you come too close, and you should be just fine.

You are either NE or Draenei. As a Draenei you go to lv 20 on your island, but can chose to leave earlier ofc. The NE are kinda finishes around lv 12 and usually there are enough quests for you to actually make it to this level.

Barrens Raptors are lv 13 and the Horde guards nearby will probably be so kind and help you tame one ^^

About those raptors.....

Look for Sunscale lashtail/screecher/scytheclaw lvl 11-18, they can be find in barrens, there is a batch of them northwest of Ratchet.

Or look for Deviate stalker/slayer/gaurdian lvl 14-19 (these look better imo) you will bump into these just inside the wailing caverns, due west of Ratchet.

If you can make it to Ratchet there should be no problem in getting a raptor.

My gosh, it's like a mini adventure/quest of its own. I might just Leave it to another day, and stick with my trusty owl... Or I might get a wolf, because I don't really like the Owl, >.<

But man alive, thanks for all the help. Usually I just get a load of people shouting 'Noob!' in my direction. You've all been really helpful, thanks =]

Can't wait to start getting some levels and properly killing mobs. =] Need to get better eq. first.

arent there raptors in durotar? lower leveled too.

or you can wait til you're about level 21-22, then take the boat to menethil and head east from menethil. on the south side of the road you'll find raptors.

Easiest way is to do the quests in Auberdine and up to Maestra's Post and Astranaar (You'll find these all by taking the road from Auberdine.) Level Up, then take the left boat to Menethil harbor (Wetlands) from Auberdine. Just outside of Menethil Harbor to the right are some raptors. There are many types of raptors all around the Wetlands.

Yup. Just to the south of the Valley of Trials and a bunch of them along the river leading to Orgrimmar.

Actually, most of it is lower than that. Content beyond 25 is unlikely to be encountered by an Alliance player running to the Barrens. Having done the run at low levels myself, I can assure you that the run is relatively safe at low levels (10-20) as long as you stick to the main roads (and are Alliance) and are very careful to avoid the guards at the entrance to the Barrens.
