So i didnt pick a pvp server. Does that mean I cant fight horde/allaince?
On a PVE server this is no "World" PVP but you can still do the battle grounds which are horde vs. alliance. You can also fight anyone who is flagged PVP on a PVE server.

You can do battlegrounds as the previous poster mentioned, or if you really want to engage in some serious pvp action out in the world just stage a raid on the opposing factions town or city - keep killing the NPC's and at some point you will have players show up from the opposing faction ready to fight you off and the real fun begins.
Of course - they are usually high level players that show up so you may get your butt kicked at that time
Also if you are out questing and you see a player whose name appears in red that means they are flagged PVP - or if you are too far away to see that you can click on them and a shield will appear next to their name. In this case - if you think you can take them - feel free to attack in whatever fashion you prefer.

Actually, you are not correct, because you left out a word.....On a pve server, there is no AUTOMATIC world PVP.
however, I submit that there is often MORE world pvp on pve servers, than I've seen on pvp servers.
I have only seen, for example, Crossroads, org, etc., attacked ONCE in the past year on laughing skull ( a pvp server).
But, on Ghostlands (a pve server), there are regularly (at least, every day or two, and often on weekends) several (up to ten or twenty) alli characters boating into Ratchet to cause trouble in xr, ratchet, or elsewhere.

thats not true for my server. pvp. towns gets attacked all the time. but then, whenever i play, i'm joined to world defense channel. most attacked towns are: Tarren Mill, xroads, splintertree, hammerfall, and Gromgol.
Tarren mill the most, then xroads, then the other three somewhere in third.

SO, let me get this straight (sory I'm not too good at spelling). If I'm on a PvE server, I can only attack Horde (assuming I'm allaince) if they have PvP turned on (excluding battlegrounds). But if I'm on a PvP server, Horde can basically do **** all. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Since you say you're Alliance, the following assumes that.
PvP server - Anywhere that's contested territory (outside of major alliance cities) you can (and often will) be attacked by Horde players. Inside the alliance's city walls, you're safe unless you choose to enter into PvP through your own actions. Outside of those walls, you're fair game to anyone and everyone belonging to the Horde. And they're fair game to you too, unless you've wandered into one of their major cities, which isn't exactly an easy task in and of itself.
PvE server - No matter where you are in the game (with the exception of BGs and the arena, which you have to explicitly click 'enter battleground' to get into) you're safe from the Horde unless you choose to enter PvP mode through your own actions. And of course, the same is true for them. If you choose to flag for PvP, they're still safe from you unless they choose to enter into PvP through their own actions.
Hope that clears things up a little.
