I think I'm at the point where I need to start adding enchants to my gear. I hate spending the gold for gems or enchants if I'm going to end up replacing the gear sooner or later. I think gems can be removed but can other enchants be removed from items?
Thanks

Neither gems nor enchants can be removed. If you think you'll replace the gems soon, go with green quality gems, they only cost 2 to 5G.
For enchants there are cheaper versions as well. If you're a tank (or just someone who needs more +sta) you can get a decent ROI out of Heavy Knothide Armor Kits.

I don't know of any way to remove them, but any new enchant will overwrite the previous enchant.
When enchanting the item it will ask if you want to replace the old one with the new one.

If you enchant something that already has an enchant or any other permanent upgrade, such as an Armor kit or an Enchant, what was ever there previously will be overwritten. Gems do NOT count in this. They're a separate category unto themselves.
If you want to upgrade a gem, just simply drop another one onto it's place. The old will be be destroyed however.
So if you have a +5 Spell Damage Red gem and want to replace it with a +12 spell Damage Red gem, the +5 will be removed.

you CAN have gems and enchants on the same item.

you will have to get used to that ^^ even epics at level 70 will be replaced sooner AND later. If you try to economise with enchants it will make you look cheap though, and maybe even a guild aplication can depend on that. i know i wouldnt take anyone into my raid ( or my guild ) who does not gem and enchatn properly.
that said, i wouldnt gem or enchant anything before 70. at level 70 i would put green gems / cheap enchants on blue quality items and blue gems and the best possible enchants on epics.

QFT.
Note, also, that at 70 gold is stupidly easy. I didn't like the pre2.4 dailies so I didn't do them, but I do the ones on the Isle and a couple of other new ones... an easy 90-120g in an hour. And, if you level with regular quests left, those give gold since they can't give you XP. And of course gathering professions become pretty lucrative.

I feel like I missed something. Maybe it was guild advice. My char is already level 70. I'm working on my epic flying mount and have about 3300/5k needed. I'm familiar with the AH and how to play it and use it. I have skinning and leatherworking. Leatherworking is 350 and skinning is 375.
I still have many of the group quests remaining in Outlands and am currently questing in Shadowmoon Valley.
Unfortunately, I'm still not grasping the idea of what a daily or heroic quest is.

hehe... you have more gold than I do.
dailies are repeatable quests. You can do the same quest every day (but only once per day). You can do up to 25 of them every day and they pay about 10g per. They're an alternate way to earn gold for people who don't want to farm and have no regular quests open. You can hit WowWiki.com for more info.. there are dailies in Skettis, the Isle of Quel'danas, Ogrila etc.
There are also dailies for regular and heroic dungeons and for the BGs. These are random - each day an instance or BG is chosen to be that day's quest. The BG quest gives 12g and 419 honor, the heroic daily gives 16-24g and extra Badges of Justice.
If you haven't grouped a lot as you levelled, do 5 mans before Kara. You are NOT ready for Kara with just gear - you need to know how to work in groups effectively... how to dps without pulling aggro, how to CC, what NOT to do. For example, a new hunter I knew used Multishot a lot... with CCed mobs around. Um... guess what.. the multishot broke the CCed mob... the tank had to scramble, etc. Multishot is a great solo tool... but you need to know NOT to use it in raids near CCed mobs. Each class has something like this - tanks that need to know not to pull pre-Sap since a rogue can't sap a mob in combat, etc...

Thanks...Good Stuff. That brings up another question I meant to ask. I've done a few 4 and 5 man quests and did ok I think.
My question is that I rarely if ever use most of the talents I have. I mostly use Arcane Shot + Serpent Sting. Occassionally I use Concussion. I also use Pet Mend, Hunters Mark, Aspect of the Hawk, Raptor Strike, Frost Trap (the one that freezes) , Feign and that's pretty much all on my first bar. Am I missing any "must use" skills?

the most important skill (IMO) is misdirect.

Misdirect is invaluable in groups. You can save the healer or the mage by redicting a mob attacking them on to your pet. Also using your traps for crowd control.
Until you have worked with a group leader or raid leader for awhile and learned what they want and what markers they use to give you direction it's always a good idea to ask them about your assignment on specific encounters.
I would also suggest you ask about this in the hunter forums - you will get a lot more help on this type of issue there. Search the hunter forum threads for existing info - I bet you will find a lot of people have asked for advice gearing their hunter up for raiding.
We are always here to help but you have been around long enough to start searching threads for this info - then go to the hunter forum to ask more targeted questions about your gear and using your skills, shot rotations, etc.
