Hi once again, said i'd be back

This is a question based on solo'in this game, me and my gt/f have already decided on a Druid/Warrior combo for when we're together....but we'll not always be playing together, so looking into what classes solo well?

At a first glance it seems to be out of Hunters and Warlocks, but want to here a little more into these classes and their solo ability, does one outshine the other, is there a race thats better suited to each one, or is there a class thats better at solo'in than these?

Thanks in advance.

Hunters are great IMO. If you spec Beast Mastery it's like always grouping with another player.

Hunters are certainly an excellent class to solo with. As stated above, BM makes your pet more of a contributor than some random group members.

I've solo'd an aff warlock up and found that she's also great at soloing (and great when grouping with a good tank!)

I mean, ever class is built in a way that they are good to solo with- like it's been said before and will be said time and time again- it depends on the player. BUT starting out, picking a class with a pet is often a good option...since your pet can maintain aggro and you can just pew pew.

I also have a warrior. I've spec'd her fury and have NO problem solo'ing. But with warriors you'll need fairly good armor and weapons...but you can totally solo nonetheless.

Best of luck :)

every class can solo well.
but if you really want to have my opinion, pick a warlock.

then again, i favor warlock anyway.

Pet classes are best for soloing, no doubt about it. I'm no expert on either class, but I think Hunters have the edge slightly (gold farmers always seem to be Hunters lol, that says something) xD

Thanks for all that, i've decided to roll both a Warlock and a Hunter and will see which takes my fancy more. Kinda looking to invest most talent points into Beast Mastery to get the most out my pet, but was wondering what traps are like too?

Also, haven't got the Warlock to the point of talent trees yet, but whats a decent path to invest in with that?

Trap are pretty neat. I've never gotten a hunter up that high, but I'm pretty sure you get the ability from the hunter trainer for all, if not most, traps. Traps are often AoE (area of affect) tactics to manage a crowd. In the lower stages you get a fire trap which sets the area around the trap on fire to do X amount of damage (a trap is triggered when an enemy mob or player runs over them). There's also (in the lower levels) frost and an ice trap. The frost trap (like the fire trap) causes the area around the trap to be covered in frost, slowing all enemy movement by X amount. And ice trap freezes the individual/mob/animal/enemy that runs over it, into a block of ice.

Often hunters are recruited to groups to do CC (crowd control). They do this with their traps, and chain trapping a certain mob.

Warlocks...muuahahahaa...warlocks are great. Now...like a hunter trying to decided whether to spend points in BM or Marks, affliction vs. demonology gives the player a difficult choice. Now...I'm an aff lock, and I have to say it works WONDERS for me. Aff in BGs, PvP, solo questing, and instances has served me well. I've manage to put 90% of my points in aff and now am putting some in demonology. In my eyes, aff increases your DoTs (damange over time spells), where demonology increases your pet's ability to hold aggro (much like BM for hunters).

Warlocks, much like hunters, often have a difficult choice between their two main specs. I would even suggest trying both and then choosing. It (of course) will cost a bit of gold, but can be well worth it :)

good luck

I have two level 70 hunters. One is very solidly Beast Mastery. He also doesn't really use his traps, and it is pretty straight-forward, his pet is frightening and very powerful. My other hunter is a Survival/Marksmanship hybrid build. Her pet is more or less a glorified sustained dot that eats food. Her boar *might* hold aggro, but I don't count on it at all, because her ranged DPS, and melee DPS is quite... impressive. She relies heavily on her traps for different things, often the Snake Trap, Immolation Trap, and Freezing Trap are her primary ones she uses, but I've also found the Frost Trap is fun when trying to escape or in PvP, and the Explosive Trap rocks for AoE fun. Of course, she also is just downright frighteningly deadly with her melee damage, usually surprising unsuspecting people who think she's a "cookie-cutter Beast Mastery hunter", and then discover that the pet really isn't what they should be paying attention to... It's also nice to have 3 Crowd Control abilities, and a multitude of Snare & Root abilities to make people get stuck all over the place.

For Warlocks go to the Warlock forum - there is an outstanding guide there that will tell you everything you need to know about how to spec.

That being said - properly specced all classes can solo well - some just start shining more at different levels.

Druid shines starting at lvl 21 - prior to that it's a little rough solo (lvl 20 you get cat form which absolutely rocks, by lvl 21 - if properly specced - you get +30% travel speed while in cat form). Enh Shaman really takes off at lvl 20 also and does some serious melee damage but totally comes in to its own about lvl 41-42 when you get aq couple points into Dual Wield.

Paladin and Warrior are both fine for solo as long as your armor and weapons are kept up - so these can be a more expensive class to solo. Rogue is awesome - mage is fun - Warlock and Hunter are both EZmode (although Warlock doesn't become EZmode until you get your voidwalker)..

just so you'll know, both hunters and warlocks get their pet/void at level 10. hunter quest for their pets is actually easier.
