Legendary items

How does Blizzard come up with what classes or specs to introduce legendary items for? Is it completely random? Right now, the only legendary lvl 70 items that I know of are the warglaives and the new bow. Are there any others that have been shown for other classes that have just not been implemented yet?

staff in naxx, mount in ahn qiraj, mace from ragnaros, thunderfury sword, the bow from kiljaeden and the warglaives. that's all i can remember. i think there's a two hand sword somewhere but not sure.

Talisman of Binding Shard, only Noktyn has it though ;) And there's the legendary sword used in the atiesh questline in one of the old 5 man dungeons. Oh and obviously all the items used in the kael fight.

Everyone gets legendaries fighting Kael...but only for 15 minutes :)

I would say that Blizzard's people would most likely say it has to fit the encounter/story. Kael's bow and Illidan's warglaives fit the encounter, the character, and are what they made into Legendaries. That's all.

I guess that's kind of what I am asking. I'm not too familiar with WoW lore... what other "legendary" items are there that could be implemented in the future?

Not into the lore myself, but at I guess I'd say Arthus's sword (whatever it's called, Frostmane?) will be one.

common misconseption, but the mount does not drop in the instance. it is a reward for the one person who finishes the opening quest, and noone else can get it.

Frostmourne really *ought* to be an Artifact rather than Legendary. And possibly a 1-per-server item... but that'll never happen ;-)

By saying "the" you are implying it is the only one. I'd be more inclined to agree more with the statement of "Ashbringer is a 2handed sword that will feature in WotLK.", because there is the chance that there will be something silly like Frostmourne too.

hope they reintroduce the legendary staves back again, they make mages locks priests and druids happy, all the rest get those cool weapons

That was great, accidentally putting an unimplemented legendary in the trash loot table with a patch. Still was nice of them to let him keep it.

ok Kil'jaeden EU the player Turimar has it, i used to be in his guild before they split up.

there are still a few very ( 3 i think ) low population servers where the gates arent open and you could do the quest to get that mount.

( but it is very ugly ^^ )

There is a player who transfers to low pop servers and uses his whatever (is it a hammer or staff?) to open the gates. It happened on my server
