I wouldn't necessarily say if a Diablo development was to happen that it would automatically be an MMO. Just as Warcraft 3 layed the groundwork for WoW, due to Warcraft 2's rather 'closed cased' finale, a similar situation would be needed, a series of story arcs with hundreds of loose ends. I just don't think you can leap from cold and coated in dust straight into a large MMO.

An alternative 'because' would be that Diablo IS one of the big three series the modern Blizzard are known for. I'm not say the new title isn't or is going to be necessarily anything related, but simply having Diablo on the logo doesn't mean much, he's a staple figurehead for his game franchise, why wouldn't he be? Remember that there are two others on that logo as well. I wouldn't go by the fact he got in the center to conclude anything.

Isn't it quite a stretch to call that a Diablo image? It has Diablo, Starcraft and Warcraft in it, basically Blizzards 3 big franchises. Could mean anything.

Hmmm..a D2 MMO would put WoW in danger of splitting money. On one had that can be a clever move, getting players from a slightly old addiction to a new one. But with WotLK is set to appear it wouldn't be such a smart move.

So I was wondering if D3 will not somehow be like D2...online, yes...maybe with a monthly fee - like Hellgate did - if you want certain specials (but free in a basic version) and max 8 players (or 16) as in D2.

Then again, Blizz may surprise us with something totally different and still brilliant...

11:55 Live feeds 10 minutes late starting so far :P

12:10 20 minutes late, they come on stage "sorry we cant show the presentation video at the moment, technical problem"

12:15 low bandwidth version has "too many users" high version keeps lagging :(

12:18 and now the hi-feeds packed in altogether :(
