Not sure but I hate the Karazhan key Attunement quests.

Bah, The Kara quests were trivial - go do a couple of quests in Deadwind Pass, clear Shadow Lab, part of Arc and SV and Black Morass. They should never have dropped it it was so easy - and if you can't do that stuff, you're not ready for Kara anyway.

But to the OP - I don't think there's a chain that takes you all over Azeroth and Outland, but the Cipher of Damnation chain in SMV is probably the longest in terms of steps. That in turn leads to the Trials of the Naaru series which is short, but requires 3 heroic clears and a Magtheridon kill.

The BT attunement chain is fairly long too.

one of the hardest back in the day was the Ony Attunement quest.

oh please, the ony quest was nothing.

to do all the quests up to the hand of a'dal title including all these raid things, that was a epic quest.

longest in term of steps would surely be the cipher of damnation thingy.

longest in term of time investment would surely be the scepter quest to open the AQ gates.

Bah, The Kara quests were trivial -

It stops being trivial on the second or third alt..not least because of vanishing amount of ppl on my server who still do normal runs. If you have to go on a heroic run for your key you may as well do Kara.

And I disagree on the "if you can't do that stuff, you're not ready for Kara anyway" part...well..for some classes. I am getting my Kara heal gear from AH items and 5 crafted epics (or some pvp) ....ofc that doesn't say I won't suck at healing in a raid, haha. (worked for me getting my dpsers ready anyhow)

Well, it's high 60s, not 70, but the Horde's Greatmother quest line in Nagrand probably would be it. It requires three different quest lines just to open it up, and you do have to pop back to Orgrimmar a couple times. There are over thirty quests in that chain.

I don't know if there is an Alliance equivalent to this line.

It is finding the ppl to do the kara key quests sucks... All the instances became easier and easier after each patch and I've seldom seen ppl failed any reg 70 instance lately. To key or not to key has little to do with the readiness for kara. It is not even required anymore.

Kara key quests:
Eastern Kingdoms
Arcane Disturbances (Deadwind Pass)
Restless Activity (Deadwind Pass)

Eastern Kingdoms
Contact from Dalaran (Dalaran)

Outland
Khadgar (Shattrath City)
Entry Into Karazhan (Dungeon: Shadow Labyrinth)
The Second and Third Fragments (2 partial Dungeons: Steamvault & Arcatraz)

Kalimdor
Old Hillsbrad (Dungeon: Caverns of Time)
Taretha's Diversion (Dungeon: Caverns of Time)
Escape from Durnholde (Dungeon: Caverns of Time)
Return to Andormu (Dungeon: Caverns of Time)

Kalimdor
The Master's Touch (Dungeon: Caverns of Time)

Outland
Return to Khadgar (Travel to Shattrath City)

The entire ony thing put together with the added fun of getting the UBRS key was a proper chain before they fixed the issues with the documents for horde. You'd have one per instance and it could spawn at any boss. Typically ninjaed in a pug. The alliance version isn't all that bad with the escort being the hardest part.

Other than that I agree with Twoflower. AQ gates is a clear nr 1 with the BT attunement starting at ruins of the Ba'ari and ending with killing illidan including getting access to MH (Vashj+Kael) as a second.

Since I feel a little guilty using another site when similar info is presented here let me start with wowdigger:

This is the quest that Renata was talking about and there are three other small/medium chains you need to do to open it.

This site presents the info a little better starting with:
http://www.wowwiki.com/Long%2C_Exceptional%2C_or_Hidden_Questlines

That being said the quest is tuned for lvl 66-68 and a lvl 70 can certainly solo the group portions so I'm not sure if it qualifies as the longest quest for a 70

/yawn... i've done the kara quests on both of my 70s. They're easy. Yes, do them on heroic with some friends. That's who I run that stuff with - some friends. They'll take 20 mins to hit up SV and 20 for Arc and an hour for Slab because, well, they're friends. This is, in part, a social game. Make friends in your guild or outside of it.

And, irogue, several of those quests are simply 'go talk to this guy now that you've done the quest'. Oh and the OHB steps aren't part of the Kara line - they're needed to do BM... but not technically related to Kara.

Ren - I don't know of an Alliance chain like the Greatmother line. Sounds like a fun time... too bad we don't have something like it.
