just moved into a new house with 6 room mates and with the house being so big and no wiring for internet we got a rangemax wireless modem. it was a 100 bucks so i expected it to be good

it works fine with my buddies new computer but me and my othe room mates computers aren't new and every half an hour or so our signal goes down to 1.00 mbs

is the rangemax technology too advanced for our computers? should we go switch for a G for 50? or do you guys have any idea how to fix this?

thanks a ton in advance for any help

First of all, you don't have a rangemax wireless modem. You have a wireless router.

Second, you should be able to set it down to G.

Third, how good of a connection you get will also be dependant on how good the wireless ethernet is in your computer and where they are located at. Your range can be affected by many different things and someone closer CAN have poorer reception than someone further away.

most wireless routers can do several modes of speed. it should work.
as for your problem, there are many factors that we dont know about.

who's on your network? what are they doing? is someone using up all the bandwidth? what's your internet connection like? does it do the same thing with the computers that have no problems (do they play WoW uninterrupted)? how far are you from your router? if you played the game wired, does it still produce the same problem? etc etc etc.
