so, after some debating in the past about possibly switching to linux (Ubuntu 8.04) my hard drive chose to decide for me, bloody thing crashed on me requiring a reformat, and since my copy of windows was....well...less than fully legal...Ubuntu it was.

After some work with wine i finally got WoW up and running (albeit im still trying to work around some video issues) my main issue i am hoping for some help on is getting my N52 speedpad to work in Wine. Note, i am an utter linux noobie, and still trying to figure out how to get things to work in the terminal, so anything that i could get to install pretty much automatic would be lovely

It might be worth checking the Belkin forums for more expert help.

I use the n50 but am using XP so have no difficulties.

Good luck... great piece of kit btw.

I've never used one of those speedpads. I would *strongly* recommend going to the Ubuntu forums, and the Ubuntu wiki, and see what people have there for getting it to work. Odds are, someone there has already experienced what you are, in order to get it set up, and can provide pointers.

While there is a couple of us here on these forums that use WoW in Linux (I've just never cared for Windows, grew up with and am self-taught in Unix primarily), there is too few of us here tobe able to find necessarily the unique & obscure hardware issues... like the N52 speedpad.

Good luck with Linux, I can help a bit with other configurations, but the N52 is completely unknown to me.

Oh, and going to Belkin's site/forums probably won't help at all. In my experience, the hardware manufacturers blow off Linux support, and there's far too many Windows 'fanbois' who spend most of your time just mocking you for using something other than MS Windblows. Nah, Ubuntu's forums are your best ticket. or WineHQ's possibly as well.

well, i did find one way to get my speedpad working, albeit i cannot customize the setup on it, i just set my buttons on my main bar to the same keys that it sends (IE: trewqfdsavcxz instead of my old 43218765=-09 setup on it, the thumb button ends up working as alt, and the lower key works as a spacebar) i will definately have to do a lookthrough on WineHQs forums, but i didnt find anything on Ubuntus forums for the n52 (might take another look though)

i am still having some trouble getting my resolution correct (my monitor allows for 1440x900 for some reason though the only widescreen ratio that wow has when i load it in Wine is 1449x900 which is a damn odd resolution, though i hardly notice the missing 9 pixels along the edge)

sorry for the double post, for some reason i cant find an edit button (or..that button goes away after some time) i found the answer to my N52 issue and figured i would at least post a link to it here (in case some other individual like myself comes along....it also works for the N50 and theres some updating done recently to include the N52te)

thank you very much for your help, and now heres that linky http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-538319.html
