Recently i bought the f-secure internet shield 2008 to secure my computer. However, after buying it, random disconnects started while playing wow; at least once per hour i got a dc, which is, of course, really annoying.
After two weeks i finally managed to find out where the problem lies: its the fsecure firewall that somehow causes the dc's.

When i disabled it namely, and only ran the windows firewall (i know thats not adequate at all, but had to try and see what happened), i didnt get any dc's anymore. Best guess is that i have to configure some settings in fsecure, or open some ports. But to me it feels like a huge maze. I have tried to open the 3724 port, but its not working, i still get the dc's when having fsecure enabled as the only firewall.

I hope someone can help me out or that anyone has some bright ideas :)
Would really appreciate it, thanks in advance :)

There are a large number of ports that you need open, perhaps most importantly for game play is port 6112.

shafali, I'm seeing the same thing. This started while I was out of town, so for a week I blamed it on the network there. When I got back to town, the disconnects continued - almost exactly once an hour. Kinda bad when you can tell your group "I'm going to disconnect any second - please wait just a moment".

Unloading F-Secure 2008 and allowing all traffic "fixes" this, but of course, leaving the doors totally open isn't a good idea (I'm behind a hardware firewall at home so it's better there).

The other thing I've noticed is that if I'm disconnected, and reconnect, the WoW voice chat is sometimes broken (if I haven't unloaded F-Secure 2008). That is fixed by (of course) unloading F-Secure 2008 also, which fixes the sound without even restarting WoW.

I've only been using F-Secure in combination with WoW for about a month. I've seen numerous posts to F-Secure and other places, going back a number of months, but no resolution. At this point I'm strongly considering renewing my AVG subscription as an alternative.

I just wanted to let you know you're not the only one seeing this behaviour.
