Ok well i quite WoW for this reason and i guess with no help from blizard there is no harm in asking here:
Ok so here is the problem.... i can log on to all servers fine i can play the game fine in starting areas but as soon as i start going to the large towns and capital cities it all goes wrong:
Ok so i enter Stormwind or any capital or large place like Booty Bay then everyone starts to just run on the spot, loose all there clothes and in about 30-60 seconds later i am disconnected from the server.
before i enter any of these places i have a latency of 86ms and frame rate of about 30fps.
I have opened all the ports on my router that it said to in all the wow guides, i have updated all the network and gfx drivers i can find, i have the specs to play the game.
My internet connection is cable (Virgin Media) 2MB

What is your hardware exactly? Does it meet our recommendations (In the 'Recommended Hardware' sticky thread)? The minimums for WoW are very unreliable, in fact Blizzard's original figure of 256 MB of RAM was doubled to 512 MB minimum, which shows they aren't too clear themselves on what the minimum bar is supposed be at. It is near unplayable in cities and other busy areas with only 256 MB of RAM, and should certainly not be used for running WoW in any realistic sense.

I wouldn't even go near a capital city with only 512MB really. Before my laptop got upped I had to turn the camera down in IF and put my char to follow someone kind enough to lead me to where I needed to be. As soon as I looked up things were lagging all over the place and my harddisk nearly had a heart-attack.
And that's with every single setting I could find turned down.
Nowadays life is better, 2GB, dual core laptop w builtin ATI graphics give me smooth gameplay even in capital cities. Only Shatt'rah occasionally still gives me grief. More so on my home comp which has better CPu but "only" 1GB RAM (soon to be expanded to at least 2GB).
Really, you can have crap cpu, crap graphics card and a tiny screen, but if you got a ****load of RAM you can do everything just fine.

turn down your graphics settings and see what happens. at 86ms latency, you should not DC. also, check the upload bandwidth. you download might be 2mb, but your upstream might be gimped.
30fps is in the barely minimum side. so i would expect a drop in towns to be about... 10 fps. your graphics card insnt exactly the top of the line, so try to drop multisampling/anti-aliasing and some terrain detials.

I have turned all GFX additions that are not needed off when i tried again and it still disconnects me from the server.
FPS i don't care about a bit of jumpy screens if i can at lest play the game with low GFX i don't care. I set my gfx generally to mid value to get 30FPS.
and i have about half a meg upload speed

though im not sure if this has anything to do with getting disconnected, but do you know how hot your rig runs? especially your processor and graphics processor?
do you have updated drivers for both your network connection (do you use lan? or wifi?), and your graphics card? 2 gigs of ram is sufficient.
for an 8500, they usually ship without a fan. does yours have a fan? all i can think of is that your graphics is locking things up, and your computer hangs. but you said you have 2 pentium d's?

After you disconnect, when you reconnect and you're standing in the city, what happens then?

all drivers are up to date, gfx card came with large fan not sure how to check temp of computer but it isn't hot when i open up the case so im assuming that isn't a problem.
I am using a LAN, i have tried it after turning all computers on the network off to make sure they are not taking any required speed.
when i try to reconnect most the time i get stuck in the city so i have to delete the character and start again from scratch because i can't get him out.
(log on then see people running on the spot with no clothes on then disconnect again)

Have you tried a different router?

Biggest test you can do is convince a friend to come and bring his computer over. Fi he doesn't play as well just do a quick copy of your client to his pc and you can try playing on his pc. If his works just fine and yours crashes then we've at least localised the issue to just your pc.
Also then try taking your pc to your friend's house. If you STILL get crappy connection the problem is definitely on your pc.
In which case an upgrade/replacement of some components (motherboard?) might help you. Perhaps a funky piece of RAM (you wouldn't believe how many stuff gets solved by replacing the RAM). Covertly malfunctioning power supplies have also been known to mess things up.
Take the pc to a skilled pc-shop. You might have to lend him yr password for the duration. He can then swap parts in and out.

well i know it is not the pc already because it happens on everyone in the house.
i have not tried another router for the main reason i only have one lol, i will try and find someone willing to lend me theirs for the day to check it out.

That's a big clue that it's either your router or some other part of your connection. Is this wireless, wired or both?
steveinater

it is a wired connection... I live in quite a large house and the router etc.. is on the second floor then my computer is on the other side of the house one floor up.

you might wanna make sure your roommates arent on limewire and the like downloading things while you're playing. with several computers, it becomes quite annoying especially when you have programs installed on every computer doing god knows what. oh the auto-update mess. i sign on to my computer one day to find out that i've already downloaded a 10meg update to windows media player. what?? you might wanna give yourself priority on the network.

So all computer are wired to the router? Does the router offer Wireless? Does that do it too?

ok do this.... disconnect everyone's connection to the internet, take out your router, and connect your computer directly to the modem. try it and then we'll know if its your router.

Ok i connected it directly to the modem it works but a bit laggy i can live with that.
But knowing this how can i fix it because i cant keep my computer there.

i think you need to upgrade your router. router is at least 6 years old i bet. didnt read too many good reviews on that thing either.
also, you've said connecting your computer to the modem was an improvement, but not really. care to explain?
