Im currently in the uk for 6 months and have purchased a laptop over here, i also brought the local copy of wow and installed it fine and managed all the updates. However im unable to login, i assume this is because my account is a US one yet the copy of wow i bought (i didn't think to bring mine with me) is the EU one. Is there a way to access my US account from the EU copy as i have another 2 months of subscription paid for.

Cheers

You can just download the US client online. There is no real way to make all variants of the EU client reliably direct itself to the US servers, and usually there are complications when modding it to do so, it's faster and easier just to download the right client. Legally and freely mind you, there's nothing illigal about downloading the client, it is freely available online on Blizzard's own website.

Just expect some increased lag from having an ocean between you and the servers .

We recently had one of our guildies (we are UK based predominantely) raiding with us whilst he was in Seattle, he was getting better response times there than he was in the UK.

You can change the ip address the game uses login, but it has the side affect that your client for update purposes is still european. It wont download us patches only EU ones so you have to wait an extra day before you can play again if the games patched, in the past also minor patches have come out to fix certain language versions and the versions of the game are desynced for several weeks. Safer just to use a US client.
