Hihi all,
My husband and I are looking to start a new and both love how a brand new server levels the playing field for ALL. Is there a place I can find out IF any new US servers will open for WotLK expansion?

I'm not too sure that a new server will level the field. They usually offer transfers to the new server, meaning that level 70 chars move from a different server to the new one.

if i read the news correctly it said some of the old EU servers are going to be shut once the last few people have moved (almost empty because of Russians moving to Russian server)
so it will be a refurbished server more than a new one.

no, usualy new servers are closed for transfers for the first 3 months.

Regarding EU realms:
Following the very successful launch of the Russian localization, the vast majority of Russian-speaking players have migrated over to the new Russian-language realms. Four English-language PvP realms in particular were largely populated by Russian-speaking players, so these realms now have low remaining populations. As such, we've decided to offer free character migration off these realms to join larger English-language communities. Once the migrations are complete, these realms will be brought down and prepped for the Wrath of the Lich King launch.
Realms closing
The following four realms will be closed when the next patch is launched:
Molten Core
Shadowmoon
Stonemaul
Warsong

Edit: Meh, the OP was talking about US realms. Oops. Oh well ;)
Edit 2: Recently rerolled on a new EU realm called Blade's Edge and no migration for 6 months (January).

About the server transfers and no server transfers, both are true I've found.
Sometimes when they release a batch of servers, some of the servers are strictly for transfers from high population servers to the new ones, some of them are for fresh starts. Usually they'll say in the news announcement which servers are for new characters and which ones are for transfers. Also, if a new server is for fresh starts, there usually is a block on any form of transfer to that server for a few months, and vice versa, I think as well, although it's usually a shorter length of time (I'm not 100% sure on this though).

Thank you for the replies. Everyone seems to agree there will be new servers for WotLK, ones for transfers and ones for fresh starts. I want to now know WHERE I can find out the quickest "news" of fresh start servers for the US? Is there an newsite, email service, or forum I should watch?

Just watch www.worldofwarcraft.com, if there's going to be new servers, they'll be announced on the front page just like any other news tidbit, along with the new servers' names, type (PvE, PvP, RP, RP-PvP) and if they'll be for fresh starts or transfers.
Edit: As for if they will or won't, it all depends on what happens with the release of the WotLK. If they get a crap load of new players like they did with BC, then chances are they'll create new servers, otherwise, they may not. You'll just have to watch and see.

If its a fresh server without transfers you can't make a deathknight on it till 3 months are over or till you have a level 55 char on that server. Something to keep in mind. (can't reach the blue posts from work :()

I always find that this site called www.worldofwar.net (http://www.worldofwar.net) is quite up to date on all of the news-tidbits

Fortunately playing a deathknight is not a priorty with us. We both prefer healing. Thanks again for the answers. I will keep my eyes peeled for the "news" listing.
