What appears to be the official release date for Wotlk expansion has showed up on the home page of WoWhead and Thottbot .

Indeed..just strange that they don't advertise it on their own official site first...

Not until i see an official date on an official blizzard/WoW site, will i not believe any date thats out there.
Even though there's more and more, that points in the direction of an november release - i still put my guess at an early/mid december release.

I think this sites stance towards thot and wowhead is quite amusing now seeing as Blizzard don't seem to have any trouble dealing with them.

These arent pre-order sites, their putting the date up because their being paid to put that date up.
You mean they are not being paid and advertised from Blizzard?

I suspect they have put that up to get publicity - and it's worked :)
I have contacted Blizzard to see where they got this date from. We will know shortly.
UPDATE: Blizzard have said at this stage the advertised date is pure speculation. However, Blizzard have an advertising campaign with Fansites which is due to start tomorrow. Our graphics have not come in yet, but maybe WH got theirs early and thought they'd beat everyone to it, which would be breaking the embargo. Not saying this is definitely the case, but it's a possibility.

Yes it has been confirmed. Why WH was allowed to get an exclusive on this over every other fansite is a mystery though...

It's time to put on the writing hat and compose a strongly worded letter to the management

Meh, blatant abuse of time zone differences by wowhead if you ask me.
mmo-champion had it too this morning....

mmo-champion did have it up as a news, but they weren't confirming anything, just linking to wowhead's add. So I guess they didn't break any "rules" by saying "wowhead says that..."

I think this sites stance towards thot and wowhead is quite amusing now seeing as Blizzard don't seem to have any trouble dealing with them.Yeah I was just thinking this, Wowhead is an officially sanctioned fansite which other than a vague link between their owners and previous similar company has no connection with RMT and the fact that another seperately run website that their owners hold runs RMT adverts. Given that Blizzard obviously don't think there's any problem with the site I don't really see the issue with it. It would be nice to be able to link to the best database site on the internet for the forums here. Sorry to say it but Wowdigger has nothing on it.
Why WH was allowed to get an exclusive on this over every other fansite is a mystery though...Thottbot had it up early too. I think Wowhead was first but not by much, at 08:00 UK they both had it up.

Yeah WH and TB are owned by the same company.

Imo, if any fansite deserved to get this info/adverts before anyone else, i'd voted for worldofwar over wh/tb any day.
mostly based on my personal stance on RMT and the above mentioned sites dubious affiliation with companies with a record in said things

What a POS that is, "Oh, we're going to let everyone know FIRST." not even caring that other people are, y'know... Also website directors and stuff, and also need publicity. Gj, a-holes...

I honestly don't know if this is a joke or not (especially since i didn't see any smilies or /sarcasm tags), but are you seriously complaining that one fansite was able to report the release date before another? Do you really think this site wouldn't have done the very same thing if they were in that position?
Wowhead got the scoop first, end of story. There really is no need to get bitter or angry that this site or any other site was beaten to the punch. Thats just how news reporting goes. Expecting WH to have sat on this information until every other fansite was officially notified is just.....silly.

Idiot. Wowhead is in competition with other sites. They don't owe those sites (including this one) anything, just as this site owes other fan sites nothing.
For a self-identified republican you seem to have a lot of antipathy for the way capitalism actually works.

1. No, I doubt this site would immediately throw out the date if they knew that everyone was supposed to release it on the same day, they'd release it at 12:00 AM the day it's supposed to come out, like I'm sure everyone else would.
2. Idiot? You're real good at getting facts and explaining fully what you're talking about. I've admitted I'm in the middle, slightly more republican, never that I'm a full-going republican.

Yes, they would have. Even if Elly herself came on the forums and said they would have just sat on the information for a full day out of "fairness" to other fan sites, I still wouldn't believe it.

Yeah this is yet more proof that worldofwar.net's WoWhead/Thotty policy is complete and utter BS. If Blizz has a good working relationship with them, this sites stance is a bit of a joke. If you guys said "Look, they provide the same service as our website, therefore they are our competition, so please don't link them here", I'd be fine with it. But to insist on telling a melodramatic cock and bull story about some fictional gold selling mafia being behind them...well guys that story has been lame for over a year now. Funny how all mention of worldofwar.net UI website having keyloggers once is brushed under the carpet. Seriously guys grow up, it makes you look like youre from some harry potter world, and Wowhead is "he who should not be named".
Otherwise keep up the good work as usual, this still happens to be the best fansite going. Just tone down the over-reactions (case in point, see mod completely overreact here http://www.worldofwar.net/forums/showthread.php?p=4140938#post4140938 )

I agree Phar. Some of the sites "We cannot name" are completely reliable with 0 ads, and aren't owned by a gold selling company, but of course we can't link there. Yeah, I've seen multiple keyloggers not only on the UI, but on WoW.net itself, for literally days there was a keylog that my virus protector detected and blocked, yet nothing happened to it for MINIMUM 3 days.

Given their insistence on sticking with official Blizzard policy (like not linking to gold-selling websites or posting hacks), I would expect that they WOULD sit on it.

Yeah, it does bring into question if it's even worth bothering with anymore. But if the owners of this site decide that still, they don't want to support the gold-selling companies and their associates, then that is their prerogative.

Who cares who reported whatever 1st. WOTLK - 11/15 - two months to gear up, level up, save up, hype up, whatever up you want to throw in.
Two questions:
Anyone in beta thinks the release date is OK. I mean do you think there is still tweaking to be done with new talents or spells?
When will a pre-WOTLK patch be release and if so, will it have new talent trees and free respecs?

Definitely more tweaking, as if they've started any actual class balancing, it's not in the patches that we have access to. On the other hand, I think they can get it done in the time they have left.
When will a pre-WOTLK patch be release and if so, will it have new talent trees and free respecs?
Yes. The devs have said that they plan on a mid-october release of a 3.0.X patch that will contain the new talent trees, and whenever they change the shape of the talent trees, everyone gets a free respec, as there's no fair way for them to update your talents for you, given that many of them have moved.
On a side note, the same 3.0.X patch will include the new profession, barber shops, and the harbor at Stormwind.

1. Whoa, Beruen, I'm in Vegas too.
2. Patch 3.0.2(or whatever it will be) is going to be released between around October 8th-October 26th-ish.

What an amazingly precise prediction. I can add that I'm pretty sure they will release it on a Tuesday in the US or Wednesday in the EU.
