Normally Blizzcons have major announcements. Any guesses as to what this year's will be? Another Xpac? Starcraft MMO?

Could possibly be them saying what the next hero class will be for WoW. They might just be releasing a bunch of info about their current 3 projects.

Of course... I hope they're telling us about Project 4 and 5. Project 4 has been in the works for at least 3 years, it's supposed to be another game that isn't an MMO, and Project 5 will be another MMO.

I'm hoping for some kind of major hitherto unannounced PVP addition to the expansion. I simply cannot believe that Lake Wintegrasp and a couple of maps (arena/bg) is it in the face of Warhammer.

More scenarios, a plan to release BGs throughout the expansion, something, anything. I'm expecting to take away Warhammer's PVP thunder. If not expecting, then certainly hoping

Maybe it will be news about the Warcraft Movie. It's been over a year since there has been any new info about it from Blizz. I hope they haven't abandoned it. I asked WoW's Lead Producer J Allen Brack how the film was coming along at the WWI and he was completely clueless about it... Unless, of course, he was bluffing. The Blizzard reps at the WotLK press conference at LA in May did the same thing when I asked them about Diablo III :)

I haven;t tracked it at all, but I'm surprised that there's been so little news about SC2 and I'd be REALLY surprised if they don't say something about it... beta announce, etc. It seems early to announce beta for D3, but I'd not be surprised to see some playable stations for it there like they did for Wrath last year.

It's getting very late to announce new concepts/classes as the beta is running allready. I was expecting another hero class, but it's too late now I guess. Looks like they have more than enough trouble with Deathknights ;)

I'm hoping for one big surprise. It will be hard to top D3 tho, hehe

Not saying they'll release another, saying they'll tell us about the next expansion's hero class(es?).

Or perhaps the next Hero class released in this expansion during a content patch? I thought I'd read that they weren't specifically going to tie one hero class to one expansion, rather they would like to release them periodically.

They're doing so much with the current classes and the DK that I don't see a new hero class in a 3.1. They could, but I don't see it. And, frankly, they don't need more classes. One of the things they've always emphasized is that classes should have a distinct feel from one another - having 30 specs is already problem enough. And, really, what things are left uncovered? What would an archmage do over a mage or an archdruid over a druid? How, really, would a demon hunter be different from a rogue?

Right now there are a few variations on the four main roles which is great. But do we really need a dozen caster classes or melee classes?

And, really, what things are left uncovered?Probably the biggest gap right now is a pure DPS spell/melee hybrid (i.e. without healing). There's also space for something else based around ranged weapons, an archer/mage or something. I guess a ranged tank isn't really an option! But I don't expect to see another Hero Class before World of Warcraft: Dawn of the Underwater Fridge Magnets is released in ~18 months' time.

Im expecting them to have "slightly" revised theintro cinematic due to all the qq'ing, maybe added another 10 seconds to it.

Starcraft two public beta possibly announced along with a release date.

On Diablo we will possibly get a nugget of plot information not previously released.

Well... Currently one of the MAIN things people keep asking for that could easily be a hero... A Bard. That, along with the spell damage+melee damage no healing that someone else said, also just to take one from WC3 Custom Maps... A class that deals damage to regenerate health, but uses health to cast their spells. It'd be a hard one to balance though =D.

Here's my two cents about it:

They've already had a fair number of large announcements over the past 18 months (Starcraft II in April of 2007, Wrath of the Lich King in August of 2007, and Diablo III in June of 2008).

To be honest, I don't think any big new games will be announced. They'll probably announce one or two more classes for Diablo III, and show off a **** load of new Starcraft II stuff. They'll probably have a playable version of WotLK, but they've pretty much showcased everything that WotLK is going to have, although they might unveil a new dungeon that is currently closed (they JUST opened Naxx2.0 like, two weeks ago).

They won't announce another World of Warcraft Expansion until second quarter of 2009 at the very earliest, and probably not until after Starcraft II is released either. Diablo III is just barely three months out of the announcement and there hasn't been any groundbreaking new things (IE: new class) since it's initial announcement at the WWI in Paris back in June.

Ah, more D3 classes. Almost forget. They only have 2 atm, so lots of potential there.

They released info about the DK MANY months before they even released info that it would be WotLK I believe... If not, they definately released the information like... What... Around 1 year ago now? Minimum?

I hope they introduce a 4th race for SCII. Not sure if any of you guys played SC all the way through, but at the end, a hybrid between Zerg and Protoss were discovered.

And no mention of them yet..which really has me not excited for SCII.

WoW Lore/historicably speaking, where the hell can they take it after arthas kicks the bucket? He's meant to be the meanest kid on the block and we're outta lore afaik?

Nah, there's Sargeras, the emerald dream, the Azshara stuff.... and they can always make more lore - bring an Old God back into the picture, etc.

Yes, that would be a major lore section. Considering that the Burning Legion first gained access to Azeroth through the efforts of Azshara and the High Elves when they were originally with the rest of the elves. Arthas is only a pawn of the Legion, even if he has far more free will than they might wish. With Archimonde and Kil'jaeden dead (he is in the Sunwell plateau, correct?) you still have their boss Sargeras to deal with plus any other major powers in the Twisting Nether. And the Emerald Dream, as mentioned. A massive underwater area for Azshara/Naga factions could equal Northrend (or if they can find a way to push up some new land to live on like the island that held Gul'dan's tomb), that's an expansion. Then the whole Emerald dream could be an expansion, or just a few instances like the Caverns of Time.

PS spiral thing between the continents = Maelstrom, formed when the world cracked when Sargeras invaded the first time.

Not sure ill make it to another expansion tbh, wotlk will proberly be my last.

With all the in lining of the classes im expecting to see one rollable race and class per faction in a future expansion. All wearing the exact same gear of general banality with all its stats altered by what you choose to do. +100 "general points" minimum reqs for xxx heroic, pst!

Maybe they will release info about the dance studio that they announced when they announced the expansion. I would really enjoy getting rid of my Britney Spears dance..

Oh the Napoleon dance is starting to urke me as well...

As far as I know, the Death Knight was the major groundbreaking thing that was announced with Wrath at Blizzcon '07, sorta like the Blood Elves and Blizzcon '05 with The Burning Crusade. Everyone knew that Blizzard had an expansion coming, although we knew nothing about aside from that it was coming. This time though with '07, BC wasn't even 8 months old and we got the next X-Pack in our face. We weren't expecting it. I know I wasn't.

Ahh... The never-ending threads of fake changes we had back in those days. As well as the 60+ Page topics we had speculating the new races. Those where good times. Very good times.

Lol, agreed. Pretty much from the start Draenei was out there, for the Alliance's "ugly race".

out of Lore?

until WC3 there was no Arthas, the lich king wasnt the meanest kid on the block.

if blizzard want they can just make more lore, i mean its not real, its not like oh Arthas is dead well thats it because were up to present day, its all fictional like they did with WC1 WC2 WC3 and WOW they make more lore.

and there is still plenty of exisiting lore so i wouldnt worry about any of that.

as for Blizcon, if they dont announce either of there new projects its just going to be Diablo and SC2 info since theres not much new coming out from either of late.

im hoping its Diablo new personally, id like to see what else they got in store for the new game.

however its going to have to be a great new classes to swing me away from playing barbarian again

what would appeal to me is a new game, using the same WoW structure. it will be set in kalimdor thousands of years before WC, before the dark portal, before the green orcs invaded the land. give me a time where the well of eternity was watched over by high elves and where azeroth was one whole continent. give me four races to play with four factions to choose from... and erm... i'll play and try it out.

hey... thats an idea that might just work. but who knows. who said lore had to be forthgoing (of thats a word). we can always go back to the time before time. etc. i wouldnt think this to be an expansion, but more of a spinoff, a prequel to the prequel which is warcraft.

but i think more realistically, we might very well see another hero class announced. well i so hope so. not as tank-ish as the death knight. maybe more magey, or necro magey. that would rock.

WE might see a hero class announced at Blizzcon... but it won't be in the release of Wrath. And I *still* don't get why people want hero versions of existing classes. Blizzard's already said they won't be more powerful than existing classes, so..

Congrats on basically describing the Emerald Dream.

I personally think we will see Emerald Dream as an expansion eventually..... but I doubt Blizzcon 08 is where it gets announced.

Yeah, no way will they make an Emerald Dream game to itself, it'll be a WoW Expansion. It'll probably include the Black Dragonflight's leader or something as the main boss to the expansion, to release Furion from his slumber.
