Hello,

I just purchased a new computer and I would like to install WoW on it. I don't have a network. I do have my original disks and TBC disks. Could I just install the game using the original disks and then download the updates (yes I know downloading these will be a long ordeal). I read somewhere that I couldn't use the original disks as WoW will only accept the serial number(s) one time only. I would be appreciative if I could get some options here. My old PC has Windows XP and my new one has Windows Vista.

Also, is there anything I should know about the Blizzard installer. Do I download it from somehwere or will this option come up when I begin downloading the updates?

Thanks so much!

Yes, the disks will work. The serial keys have nothing to do with the installation; it never asks you for them or uses any number combinations of any sort. It's an Account Key, to make an account with, you only get to use it once to make the account. The installation doesn't even involve the key.

Basically, whack the disks in there and run the original, then run the expansion's installation program and patch up from there. No need to worry about keys or a 'Blizzard Installer', it's all automatic and fairly idiot proof; you may be overthinking here. Go ahead and see if there is anything that you encounter.

Thanks very much, Kalos, I shall try that and post if I run into any problems. Great help, thanks a lot.

Another option if you have the drive for it is to burn the entire installation folder to a DVD and copy it to the new machine. The "proper" way to do it would be from the disks but this would save you having to patch again.

Thought I would let you know that I installed WoW on my new computer without any problems at all. I put in each WoW disk and then I installed TBC with its disks. This took all of maybe an hour or so. I only needed to update to the 2.3 patch with one download and this took about 45 minutes to d/l on a cable connection and about 15 minutes to install. The remainder of the updates (there were four) took in total about 5 minutes each. Only once did Vista ask me to allow the Blizzard DL program. I copied my addons onto a flash drive and then dropped them into my addons folder. I clicked on the WoW desktop icon and prayed that all would be okay. It was. The only thing I had to do then (obviously) was to go into the WoW options in-game and configure my video, sound, interface and all that stuff. Again, thanks for your help all.
