I have a lvl 27 troll shaman and i kinda regret it. I made it because i don't like how orcs and taurens look... but their racials seem to be much better.
I need some help to decide if i should continue or restart from begining.:undecided:

I don't think a character succeeds or fails based on their race. It sounds to me that you don't like the shaman.

If you don't like the look of it now, you probably won't later. What I would do would be to park the character and make a new one. You can always go back later and see how you feel about playing that char again.

If trolls have the look you find more appealing, then I wholeheartedly suggest you stick with your toon. The greatest racial of all is liking your race enough to watch it for the hours it's going to take you to get to 70/80. The difference between racial traits are honestly not that much as you gain levels. I have a tauren shaman. My racials are: Cultivation. Okay, fine, I'm an herbalist and that boost to 390 is kinda cool. War Stomp...um...I don't even have it keyed anymore, since I use it sooooo often. Don't let stats dictate the toon you want to play...every time I've seen someone try, they've been disappointed. The greatest players play what they want, what they love, and they do it wonderfully because of that. This is a game. It's not work.

racials are not such a big factor. Stay with what you think looks good.

best example were dwarfen priests. everyone wanted to do elven priests but dwarfs were the only ones that had fear ward, so many people rolled dwarf even though they didnt like the look. One year later Blizzard changed the racial so that now every priest has fear ward.

Don't forget that Tauren have that 5% health increase as well - so I do have to agree with the idea that some racials are better than others. I mean, having an edge on rep gaining (human) really makes it less of a difficult grind, but in the end it doesn't matter because you'll get to Exalted eventualy. On the other hand, a Gnome's 5% intellect increase is very valuable (for a mage anyway).

But the others are right, you shouldn't throw away a character just because other races have traits that are better than yours. That'd be like a kid in a sandbox whining about how that other kid's toy is way cooler because it's green instead of blue. Granted, racial traits are a nice boon and can sometimes help you out nicely (like the Will of the Forsaken), but don't give them that much value that they ruin your gameplay. Especially not because you mentioned that you didn't like the Orc/Tauren look - you honestly don't want to look at their behinds for 70-80 levels only because they have more health or a better weapon expertise.

Racials will be changed in 3.02 anyhow for most races.

I thought I hated hunters when I deleted mine at lv 17. Turned out it was just the Tauren that I disliked. If you love the look of your Troll..maybe it is the class that doesn't work for you.

I'm sorry but I do have to call shenanagins. Having priests that could fear ward you tank made alot of encounters much much easier for alliance and pushed them farther into progression faster than horde

i dont believe that is the reason why alliance would progress faster than horde, if they did at all.

I decided to keep my troll and is it true they're changing the racials in 3.02?

strange though that in worldwide progress, horde guilds were always ahead. Plus horde warriors learned to stance dance, while aliance warriors sometimes still arent able to do it properly. skill > complaining about game mechanic details.

The real problem is that people always want what they dont have. Same thing as the old paladins vs. shamans discussion. Aliance always complained that shamans are overpowered and horde always complained about paladins.

happy that you stick with what you like :) you will not regret it :)

Yes. Trolls, for instance, get a new ability called "Voodoo Shuffle" that protects them from movement-impairing effects.

the only char i rolled on racial alone was my human priest. the 10% boost to spirit is just to big a skill to ignore coupled with the extra bonus to rep gain it makes my life so much easier. that said i rolled my priest back in the day when fear ward was exclusive to dwarfs and my wife rolled a dwarf priest. now my wife rarely plays her dwarf as she thinks its ugly where as my human priest can cast the spell i really wanted in the first place so i am more than happy :)

Some racials do (or did, now that they are changing them) have a pretty big impact on certain classes or specs. For tanking, for example, a Tauren with Endurance will always have more stamina than an equally-geared orc warrior at the same level.

This was one of the reasons Blizzard is changing or nerfing some racials (including the Tauren racial), because they don't want an individual's race to dictate whether they get a raid or group spot. They want such decisions to be based on player skill and/or gear level only.

hehe, to the OP, I would say change your race because whenever I see a troll in PvP I immediately go for it because trolls are disgusting and must be dealt with accordingly. haha, no seriously, play whatever you like.

I made a NE warrior which people always feel the need to tell me was "lol newbsauce lol" but I couldnt care less because its what I prefer. If you are really that competitive where every aspect of your character must be the "best", well then I just dont know what to tell you. Im sure the official forums will have everything you ever needed to know about being L337 and lol pwning newbs lol.

The racials are just nice bonuses to me. I have to love the race. For that reason I can't imagine ever being night elf, they leave me cold. I am big on dwarves but after reading the history of orcs I now have a nice orc female shaman and I'm very fond of her. You will spend hours and hours and hours of your life with this character (scary, lol) so you had better like the race!

My first 70 is a gnome but the shortness now bothers me greatly.. all it took was playing a dwarf to make me despise the shortness, LOL. So.. my gnome has existed purely on deviate delight for some months now, but only the ninja one. I like running her around as a ninja and random people now ask me "why are you always a ninja??" It's a nice solution to my extreme discomfort with the shortness.

This. (Although I applaud your ability to step beyond your extreme discomfort with the little ones...I still can't bring myself to do it.) Quite bluntly, in this game, the less "human" a race looks, the more appealing I find it. (Has caused my guild to tell me I have a hoof/horn/tail fetish) My main is a lovely little (!) tauren female. Way back when, when she was a baby, it was obvious she has bright black and white spots, but none of that is visible anymore. (The glowy eyed helm is cool though). My most played alt is a draenei female. (hooves, horns, tails AND tentacles!)

LOL, well I know it is a contradiction now that I run around as a ninja human female exclusively on my ex-gnome but HUMAN = BORING to me. I just can't understand why people pick 'em.. you already are human!! Pick something different!

Draenei females are the most attractive and other-worldly. I applaud Blizzard for coming up with a truly unique race.

::waits for people to correct her about how the race is derivative of blahblahblah::

I look for the least amount of throw aways based on the spec I want. For my priest that meant Draenei. None of the talents are throw aways and having another HoT that gets better as my bonus heals increase is just the bee's knees.

Human priests have to throw away sword and mace specialization.

Agree, hence my mostly female cast of toons :)
