View Full Version : Is WoW Worth Getting In To Now?

I've just recently stopped playing Guild Wars (having played it for 2 years) and went out & purchased Warhammer Online. There seem to be problems with Warhammer Online & 8800 series cards (which is what I have) so the game runs extremely poor. The game developers "Mythic" seem to just be ignoring this problem, so I've decided to stop playing the game altogether & was thinking about WoW.

I was just wondering whether or not you feel it's a good idea to start playing WoW now, considering it's almost 5 years old. I'd be right at the beginning, with no knowledge/experience of the game whatsoever & I'd basically be a "noob" whereas everybody else would be miles ahead of me.

Do you think the game still has potential for somebody wanting to start playing it now, considering how old it is, or should I just look for a different game?

Thanks.

WoW is more like 4 years old. If my memory serve me well, it was launched in the US in november 2004, and beginning 2005 in EU (March?).

MMO are like good wines, they need to mature a bit. A WoW just did that and is now a very balanced and fun game to play. So yes, I really encourage you to go on a give it a try.

Plus, if you already have a friend in WoW, ask him to invite you through the Recruit-A-Friend program, it will help you get your levels tremendously fast.

Have fun!
cheers.

Everyone starts somewhere. Even us so called experts.

Give it a shot, maybe start with the downloadable trial version of the game. Since you are new to the game, I suggest the classic trial and not The Burning Crusade. (Link here (https://signup.worldofwarcraft.com/trial/index.html))

Here's a link to the quick start guild for the 10 day trial, it should help answer some basic questions: https://signup.worldofwarcraft.com/trial/QS.html

If you know anyone that plays, get on the same server that they are on and in the same faction (Horde or Alliance).

Any questions that you will have, feel free to go ahead and ask here, there's always someone to help you out.

Also consider doing the refer a friend deal as you can level faster with another person. You can find the details on the WOW website.

If all else fails, you could always find someone on these forums that is in your local time zone in the UK, this way you have atleast one person to start the game with.

I've been away from the game for a year. Sometime in the near future I'm going to reactivate, and when I do, I'm wiping out all my characters except my old main, and starting over on a new server. Why? Because the game is fun as hell, no matter what level you're at or how much you know about it.
