I was just wondering if anybody could let me know which are some decent AddOns for new players such as myself. I've been playing for only a day and have already installed QuestHelper AddOn because I wasn't really sure where to go for quests.
If there's any other useful AddOns out there for new players, I'd really appreciate knowing, thanks.
EDIT: Sorry, just realised this was in the wrong section, but I can't delete it.

AutoProfitX - sells all your junk items with the press of a button.
Bagnon - view all your bags as one.
QuestGuru - enhanced Quest Log.
WIM - makes your whispers more like a IM
X-Perl - changes your Unit Frames to make them look better and more informant.

Few questions:
- AutoProfitX: How does it know what's junk & what isn't? What if it merch's something I need?
- QuestGuru: How "enhanced" does it actually get? Tbh, I didn't see anything wrong with the quest log.
- X-Perl: What are "Unit Frames"?
- Bagnon: <--- I love that.
Thanks so far.

IMO, get QuestHelper, one of the best addons you can get.
QuestHelper - Addon that tells you where your quest turns ins are at, and where you can find the mobs or the person you're looking for.
RatingBuster - More useful at 57+, but is still useful pre-57. Tells you what stats (Crit for agi, etc etc.)
MetaHUD - Very nice Heads Up Display that is essentially an advanced Blizzard UI just put into the middle of the screen.
TitanBars - Gives you more bars to play with on your character, and makes the Blizzard's bar look gigantic in comparison, it saves space and looks good.

- AutoProfitX: How does it know what's junk & what isn't? What if it merch's something I need?
It automatically sells items that are grey-quality. Since Blizzard cleaned up their database a year and half ago or so, there haven't been greys that are worth much, the broken I.W.I.N button being one of the few greys that you'd actually want to keep. Some addons like that can also be set to sell other items (say, to auto-sell low level drinks on your mage who can conjure water for free that is as good or better). I don't use AutoProfitX myself, just something like it, so I'm not sure if that addon has that functionality.
- X-Perl: What are "Unit Frames"?
Unit frames are the little bits of the UI that show units. You, your party members, your target, and possibly your focus target as well. There's three addon types I could not play without, and a replacement unit frame is one of them. The default blizzard frames seem to be more about the decoration than the information, and I prefer functionality over form, so like fairly clean unit frames.
For the record, the other categories of addons I couldn't play without would be replacement action bars and inventory addons of the OneBag nature. The list of addons that I'd rather not play without is quite long, so I won't go into that here.

It just occured to me that it would be interesting to show a screen with and without a certain mod. That way, we can actually see this difference (assuming that it changes the appearance, of course).
Anyone know of anywhere that shows this kind of thing?

imo, dont get it.
at least not when you are playing your first char.
it realy takes ALL the exploring and discovering out of the game. Remember, the journey counts. WoW is not a race to lvl 70.

Most serious mods have screenshots. At least on http://wowui.worldofwar.net/ they do :)

I reckon also one or more of the addons in the Auctioneer pack will be helpful. Like the one that tells you how much everything is worth. It helps determining which items to keep and which ones to throw away, especially helpful if it's your first toon.

For new players, I'd say none.
On my raiding 70 I have Deadly Boss Mods, Omen, Outfitter and Debuff Alarm.

There are just so many great addons. Some are good for different classes and some for raiding, pvping, questing and so on. I can only recommend one mod i use thats CTmod
That one pretty mutch lets you move and remove anything you see in your UI. The only addon i dont like with the CTmod is the buff-addon witch is easy to delete or disable.
edit : sorry, no linking to sites with gold-/charselling ads. link nuked. Twoflower
